PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jeremy Johnson (ranked 24820 p4p, 4444 weight class) and Vtnom Snake (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Snake comes into a darkened arena with his song building. wae kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Jeremy Johnson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Vtnom Snake!
The judges for this bout are Micheangelo Fripello, Paul Gruel and Colin Fray.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A solid leg kick lands there for Johnson.
Sloppy strikes from Snake. Those never looked like landing.
Snake misses with a double jab
and Johnson counters with a series of strikes. Snake will be more careful next time no doubt.
Johnson scores with a jab to the jaw.

Snake forces Johnson back against the cage and clinches.

Snake gets the body lock takedown. After a quick scramble, Johnson regains guard.
Snake passes easily into side control. Nice work.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Johnson seems a little lost for a moment, as Snake dominates the positioning.
Snake tries to stand but Johnson is controlling his head.
Snake controls the position.

Johnson pushes Snake away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Snake gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.

Snake stands up and beckons Johnson to his feet.
Snake is on the wrong end of a nice combination from Johnson.
Johnson lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.
Vtnom Snake seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Snake misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Johnson gets tackled into the cage by Snake. Snake maintains the clinch.

Snake jumps guard and drags Johnson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Johnson wants to stand but Snake is controlling his posture from full guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Johnson knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Snake on the ground.
Snake bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

Snake content to strike from guard, landing some decent shots.

Snake won't allow Johnson to get back to his feet.
A big thud reverberates around the arena there as Snake accidentally thumps the mat. Hopefully he's not broken his hand.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Snake passes into half guard.
Snake passes the half guard and he's now in mount! Big trouble for Johnson!

It looks like Snake might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Johnson is trying to stand but he's not in a good position to be doing that! Snake has taken his back!

Johnson is displaying good submission defense - not really looking in danger of submitting to the rear naked choke at the moment. That could change in an instant of course if Snake gets his way!
Johnson is very frustrated here, being controlled quite effectively by Snake.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action!

Snake tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Johnson went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Snake finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
Johnson appears to be looking for a big counter.
Johnson lunges in with swinging rights and lefts but Snake circles away quickly and effectively.
Snake throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Johnson dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Snake. That did some damage!
Johnson scores to the head and body with a nice combination!
Johnson throws a right and a left that Snake avoids nicely.
Snake is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Snake closes the distance and pushes Johnson back into the cage.

Snake has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Johnson uses from the top position.

Snake lands a good elbow from the bottom.
Snake bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Johnson's guard.

Snake is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Johnson is looking to stand up but Snake isn't so interested in that idea.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Snake tries to stand but Johnson is controlling from the bottom.
Snake is just sitting in guard, looking to avoid any submissions.
We may be looking at a referee standup if the pace doesn't pick up soon.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Snake.
Snake closes this distance looking for a takedown but Johnson circles away.

Snake shoots in and gets a takedown into Johnson's guard.
Johnson is wriggling around but Snake manages to pass to half guard.
Snake wants to stand but Johnson has hold of a leg and an arm, so he's trapped for now.

Snake is looking for a kimura here.

Snake is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Johnson is trying to stand up here but Snake is controlling him well.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Johnson pushes Snake off but Snake dives into side control.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Vtnom Snake showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!


Snake rushes Johnson and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Snake manages to pull guard. Let's see whether he can land a sub off his back.
Johnson wanted to stand there but Snake had control of the position.

Snake is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Johnson defends well.

Johnson pushes Snake off looking to stand but Snake dives back in and keeps control.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Snake in particular looking to stall.
Johnson tries to kick Snake off but Snake keeps his base steady and stays in half guard.

Snake stops Johnson from getting back to his feet.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Johnson works the jab nicely.

Snake looks for a takedown. He's got it. We're now in half guard.
Johnson tries to push off, looking to stand up, but Snake manages to move to mount!

Snake tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.

The referee warns Johnson that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

Snake stands up from mount. Strange move.
Jeremy Johnson is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Snake has taken the fight to the clinch.

Snake has dropped down and is working for a takedown. Johnson is trying to keep an underhook but Snake manages to get the takedown into half guard.

Vtnom Snake comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I've got Snake winning every round here. Surely the decision will go his way and he'll pick up a well deserved decision victory. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Vtnom Snake decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
