Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Brandon Ortega (ranked 5992 p4p, 4368 weight class) and Gilmar Alves (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Ortega kept the crowd waiting but all that was forgotten when his ring entrance music started. The incomparable musical genius that is The Purge. This should be a great matchup!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 2 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Brandon Ortega!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Gilmar Alves!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Bart Greer and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Alves is looking to clinch but Ortega is avoiding it.
Ortega looks for the body kick but Alves saw that one coming.
Alves is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
Alves shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Ortega defends it nicely.
Alves throws a head kick but Ortega moves out of range.
Alves shoots in with a takedown attempt and he has Ortega pinned against the cage. Ortega gets the underhooks and manages to circle away.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

and Ortega cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Alves shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Ortega sprawls well. Ortega wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Alves gets slowly back to his feet.
It looked like Ortega was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
Brandon Ortega has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Gilmar Alves.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Ortega enables Alves to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Ortega manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Alves has control of Ortega's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Ortega regains control of the situation pretty easily.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

Alves wants to finish this one by submission but Ortega is holding onto his waist, trying to prevent any attacks from Alves.

It looks like Alves might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.

Alves tries to bum rush Ortega with a series of wild strikes but Ortega uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Alves just manages to avoid a counter high kick fromOrtega.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Alves is defended easily by Ortega.

Alves closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Alves is going oldschool here, as he tries to force Ortega to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so Ortega shrugs it off.

Alves has hold of Ortega's left arm, perhaps looking for a submission. The two fighters tussle over control of the isolated limb and Ortega manages to get his arm back to his side and away from danger.

A big strike lands for Alves! That's really hurt Ortega and he's turned his back - Alves keeps firing away and the ref dives in to stop the fight! Alves jumps to his feet to celebrate the victory!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:36 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Gilmar Alves!
In defeat, Brandon Ortega stepped up to the mic, saying 'Good shit to my opponent. I'm gonna take a break at home with Mi Familia and then get right back in the gym to kick some ass!'.
