PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Stan Man (ranked 2292 p4p, 2252 weight class) and Jeremy King (ranked 136 p4p, 134 weight class). King is bobbing his head along to his entrance song: Hail to the King - Avenged Sevenfold. On his way into the cage it seems that Stan Man has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily Stan Man seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Stan Man!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 1 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jeremy King!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Man looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for King!
King is trying to improve his position.
Man throwing shots but missing, from side control.
Man trying to control the action but King is working from the bottom.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sloppy strikes there by Man.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Man trying to control the position but King is working away.
Man misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Man tries to advance to mount but King denies him.

Man sitting in side control, looking to soften his opponent up with elbows and hammerfists but King is avoiding damage well and looking to escape the position.
King is not content to let Man control the position.

Man looking for an arm triangle but it's way too loose to do anything.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if King can do anything to dispel that myth.
Man tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
King manages to work his way to half guard, despite Man's best efforts.

King looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Man wants to free his trapped foot but King is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Man has been looking to land a fair amount of strikes on the ground. He might be looking to soften his opponent up in order to work for a submission.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Man not throwing his punches with enough precision this time.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
King blocking the ground and pound attempt from Man.
Man working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Man prevents King from standing back up.
King taking some punishment here, with Man in his half guard.
Man moves into full mount! King won't be happy about that!
Man can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as King is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Man is going oldschool here, as he tries to force King to tap using a forearm choke. This isn't 1993 though, so King shrugs it off.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Stan Man dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Man fails with the takedown.
King lands a kick to the ribs of his opponent. Nice work there - in and out in a flash.
The crowd cheers as King lands an impressive looking overhand right. Man doesn't seem phased though.
A telegraphed takedown attempt from Man is defended easily by King.
King lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

King jabs. That one connects to the head of his opponent.

King scores with a one two! Man had his feet all tangled up there and couldn't avoid the strikes.
Donk. King catches Man right on the button with a cross.
King scores with a nice body kick.

King lands a jab, followed by a cross and another cross, as Man backs up against the cage.
King throws a head kick that looked like it stung.

Man is rocked!
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Man shoots in for a double leg but King sprawls well. That's going to sap some energy.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Stan Man. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Man sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
King lands a nice looking body kick.
King scores with a nice right hand.
Man doesn't succeed with the takedown
and King counters with a nice uppercut.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Man shoots and misses
and King counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.
Man fails with the takedown
and King counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.
King ducks low and lands a nice hook to the body of his opponent.
King lands with a nice body punch.
Man takes one to the side of the head.
Nice sprawl there from King as Man shoots in.
Man walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
King lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
King lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Man at a distance.
King throws a head kick that half lands.
Man has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from King finds it's way round the side to connect with Man's head.
Oh Man is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Man tries to clinch
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
Stan Man is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
King lands with a nice low kick. That'll leave a bruise.
Man seems to have got his legs back now.
Nice shot lands for King.
King moves into range and throws a lovely three punch combination.
Man takes one on the chin but seems OK.
King with a jab.
Man walks into a stiff left hand from King.
King lands a nice shot that snaps Man's head back.
This has been an exciting period of action!
King connects with a body shot that sends Man's belly button to the back.
Man gets cracked with a nice right hand there by King.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Man takes a jab right on the kisser.
King dips to his left and cracks Man with an uppercut!
A good leg kick by King.
King lets the fists fly and connects with a left straight followed by a right hook.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Man.
King managing to avoid any damage from the strikes thrown by Man.
Man is looking to take a break and control but King is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Man is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but King is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jeremy King showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Both fighters circling a little - King finishes the exchange with a kick to the body.
Man tries for a takedown but King circles away easily
and King connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
King lands with a shot to the body.
King scores with a jab to the body.
King lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
A left lands for King.
Jeremy King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

King scores with a kick to the midsection.
Decent striking displayed by King there.
Man looks like he's developed a pretty tasty lump over his left eye. He'll need to avoid taking much more damage to that.
King scores with a nice right hand.

Man changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. King tries to avoid it but Man manages to keep hold of a leg and drag King to the ground. King escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

and King counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

and King counters with a crisp right that sends Man to the canvas! King follows up with punches from the mount and this one is all over!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:21 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Jeremy King!
A relieved looking Jeremy King thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
