Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Hector Gillespie (ranked 4468 p4p, 4487 weight class) and Arsi Palander (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Hector Gillespie!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Arsi Palander!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Palander wants to clinch up but Gillespie keeps it at a distance.
Palander misses the shot to the body.
Gillespie half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.
Palander shoots in but no luck this time.

Gillespie dives in and scores a takedown into Palander's guard.

Gillespie drops back, looking for a kneebar! Palander looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Palander looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Palander!

Palander drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Gillespie manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Palander has Gillespie in his guard.

Palander looking to hit a scissor sweep but Gillespie is one step ahead there.

Gillespie has gone for a leg lock! Palander slips out almost immediately though and dives into Gillespie's guard.


Palander is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Gillespie is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Gillespie has escaped and now he's on top!

Gillespie slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Gillespie thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Palander is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Gillespie is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Palander has escaped the position, nice work there.

You can see the frustration on Palander's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.

Gillespie has his foot on Palander's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Palander works his way back into a safe position though.

Gillespie has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Palander can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.
Palander wants to control from the top but Gillespie keeps moving.

Gillespie stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Palander swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Gillespie is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Gillespie looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Palander is defending well. Gillespie quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Palander has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Gillespie celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.
