Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Zombie Welterweight (ranked 3949 p4p, 2916 weight class) and Salomon Rondon (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Rondon is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Fiera Salvaje. Salomon Rondon will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Welterweight drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
Rondon working the defensive guard well to avoid strikes from Welterweight.
Welterweight knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Rondon on the ground.
Rondon is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Rondon manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Welterweight manages to get himself to full guard.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Rondon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Rondon is still trying to improve position.
Welterweight has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Rondon wants to pass the guard but Welterweight is keeping the position.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Rondon is persisting with the attempt to improve his position.
Welterweight can't keep his opponent in guard - Rondon advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Welterweight manages to get to full guard.

Rondon drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Welterweight manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Rondon has Welterweight in his guard.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Rondon looking to sweep using the butterfly guard but Welterweight puts pay to that idea as he passes nicely into half guard.
Rondon is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Welterweight lands strikes from half guard.
Welterweight with a momentary lay and pray from half guard.
Welterweight working some ground and pound from close in. He's looking to maintain this position and strike for a while by the looks of things... although he'll probably advance to full mount in a minute now I've said that.
Welterweight seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Rondon wants to get back to full guard but Welterweight has passed into side control.
Welterweight lands a decent elbow from side control.
Rondon is looking to regain half guard here but Welterweight keeps moving and retains side control.

Rondon gets one leg under and gets the fight to half guard.
Rondon looks winded!
Rondon tries to get to full guard but Welterweight has control of the leg.
Welterweight looks to score some points with some ground and pound.
Welterweight is trying to control the action in half guard but Rondon is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Welterweight looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Rondon with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
Welterweight landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.

Rondon is rocked!
Welterweight scores with a big shot! Rondon's head bounced off the canvas with a huge thud! More strikes land and the referee has jumped in to save Rondon! He was hurt real bad - good stoppage!
