PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Nakachi Tadageru (ranked 1366 p4p, 2292 weight class) and Shingen Takeda (ranked 122 p4p, 202 weight class). Takeda has chosen Now We Are Free as his entrance music. Shingen Takeda told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 2 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Nakachi Tadageru!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 12 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingen Takeda!
The judges for this bout are Columbo Gatti, Jorge Garcia and Reed Andrews.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Takeda throws a jab but it's blocked by Tadageru.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Tadageru is pressing down on Takeda's thigh, looking to free his foot. Takeda is holding on for now.

Takeda is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Takeda takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.

Takeda felt the need to train up his defensive grappling in the buildup to the fight. Presumably he was expecting to be in a difficult position like this, so let's see if he can get out of it.

Tadageru got a little sloppy there for a moment and Takeda has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Tadageru has managed to get both his arms back between Takeda's legs - danger averted.

Takeda escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Tadageru gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

That's time! Tadageru's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.

Tadageru shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Takeda as he avoids it easily.

Tadageru is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move.

Tadageru looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Takeda with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.

Nakachi Tadageru overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Tadageru lands a massive shot from half guard that has rocked Takeda! More strikes land and this one is all over! Tadageru jumps to his feet and is applauded loudly by the crowd!
