The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Muhammad gets the takedown into side control.

Willson explodes and escapes back to his feet! Nice escape there!
Muhammad dives in and grabs Willson's left leg, looking for a takedown. Willson pushes down on Muhammad's head and hops out.

Muhammad jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Willson walks away with a smile on his face. Muhammad gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Muhammad shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Willson eats them both and turns towards Muhammad to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.

Muhammad throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Willson was covering up waiting for the punch and Muhammad finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Willson scrambles and gets back to his feet.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Muhammad shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Willson sprawls well. Willson wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Muhammad gets slowly back to his feet.

Muhammad gets control of Willson's arms and successfully pulls guard. Muhammad will no doubt be looking for submissions off his back.

Willson seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Muhammad for as long as he can get away with.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Sam Willson.
