PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Baki Hanma (ranked 2692 p4p, 2273 weight class) and Patrick Slinger (ranked 237 p4p, 203 weight class). Chooooooooon! I think Hanma might be my favorite fighter, now he's come out to B-Complex - Beautiful Lies. Slinger has chosen Hail Mary as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.

The judges for this bout are Ben Zyskovitsi, Arvi Lind and Anni Minnemäki.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Slinger keeps Hanma at a distance using the push kick.
Slinger throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Hanma wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.
Slinger looks for the body kick but Hanma saw that one coming.
Hanma scores with a decent looking hook.
Slinger slips under a jab from Hanma.
Hanma connects with a good right hand that stumbles Slinger. Slinger circles away out of range and recomposes himself.

Slinger bobs and weaves into range and then changes levels and scores with a nice takedown into side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Hanma seems to be working for a kimura but Slinger defends the submission attempt.
We've been hearing good reports from Hanma's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Hanma is keen to just control but Slinger is a slippery customer.
Hanma slows the pace down in half guard.

Hanma is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Slinger sees it coming and defends easily.

Slinger is looking for a triangle but Hanma pushes his legs off easily.
Hanma stays in close to Slinger's body and controls the position.
Slinger is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Slinger can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Hanma controls the pace.

Slinger is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Hanma defends well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Slinger is working actively from the bottom, looking for submissions. He's escaped his hips to the side and he's going for an armbar! Hanma has his hands clasped together but Slinger extends and breaks Hanma's desperate grasp, forcing a tap out due to armbar! Nice BJJ displayed there by Slinger.
