Coming up we have a welterweight kickboxing rules bout between Hokuto Akira (ranked 3042 p4p, 3945 weight class) and Wesley Taurus (ranked 391 p4p, 475 weight class). The crowd seem to be enjoying Taurus's choice of entrance music: Country Boy - Aaron Lewis. Hokuto Akira has the better chin. Will he look to stand and bang today?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the welterweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 34 - 5 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Hokuto Akira!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 25 - 19 - 2, fighting out of Amsterdam, Wesley Taurus!
The judges for this bout are Sosuke Kotani, Shigeki Sano and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Taurus fakes low and throws an overhand right that catches Akira on the side of the head.
Taurus lands with a straight right. Akira didn't see that one coming.
Taurus connects with a single shot there.
Taurus throws a shot to the body.
Akira swings for the body but Taurus moves out of range.
Akira misses with a body shot.
Akira takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
Taurus looks to throw the jab but Akira is out of range.
Akira throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Taurus sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Taurus connects with a single shot there.
Akira feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Tauruss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

It looks like Wesley Taurus has been cut.
Akira looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Akira on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taurus lands a nice looking body shot.
Taurus uses good head movement to avoid the hook from Akira.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Taurus misses with a head kick.
Akira throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Taurus shuffles to his left behind two crisp jabs. Akira eats them both and turns towards Taurus to reposition himself and eats a stinging right hand-left hook combo.
Taurus throws out a powerful jab.
Akira takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.

Taurus gets tackled into the ropes by Akira. Akira maintains the clinch.
Akira tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.

Taurus breaks from the clinch.
A looping hook to the body misses from Taurus. Akira does a little dance to reset his feet.
A punch lands to the side of Akira 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Taurus throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Akira defending well as Taurus loads up on a big left hand.
Akira was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Taurus connects with a looping left hand that seems like it dazed Akira momentarily.
Taurus has been working his punching technique in the buildup to the fight and it appears to be paying off.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Taurus staying out of range there.
Akira bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Taurus misses with a kick to the body.
Wesley Taurus seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Taurus lands with a slapping head kick.
Taurus changes levels and scores with a jab to the body.
Taurus misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Akira moves out of range as Taurus strikes.
Akira was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Akira jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Akira takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
Akira is looking to counter with a shot to the body.
Akira's jab looks to have found its range, popping Taurus under the eye.
Taurus throws out a loose jab but Akira uses good head movement to avoid it.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Wesley Taurus dominated that round.
The cut man is working on Wesley Taurus's cut.
That's time! Back to the action!

Taurus lunges at Akira with a hook that half lands and is half blocked by Akira's hand.
Taurus tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Akira was well out of range. Poor timing from Taurus.
Akira keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Taurus.
Taurus connects with a jab.
The fighters circle momentarily. Taurus darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Taurus lands a jab.

Akira moves into range and clinches up with Taurus.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Akira is pushing Taurus up against the ropes, for a bit of lean and pray action. Action being used the in the loosest possible sense of the word.
Taurus is trying to break the clinch but Akira is controlling him.
Taurus looks like he'd prefer to be striking at range right now.
A hook to the body from Akira.
Akira lands a body punch - he's looking to wear down Taurus.
Akira doesn't land with the attempted body shot.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Taurus is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the ropes.
Taurus has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Akira scores with a hook to the body.
Akira keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Taurus's efforts to push away.
Taurus has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Akira scores with a nice hook to the head.
Taurus has used his reach advantage pretty well so far tonight.
Akira tries to land a shot to the body but it's blocked.
Taurus has had enough of the clinch and is looking to separate.
Akira lands a left hand.
Akira lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.
Akira lands with a good tight uppercut to the head.
Akira pushes Taurus back against the ropes and lands a hook to the side of the head.

Taurus is rocked!
Taurus is breathing heavily.
Akira makes some space for himself and lands an uppercut.
Taurus is still on wobbly legs! Can Akira finish him?
Akira digs a right hand underneath Taurus's ribcage. Taurus let out a lung full of air as it connected.
Akira throws a hook to the body. More of an arm punch but it's all scoring with the judges.
Akira lands a hook that snaps the head of Taurus backwards.
Akira will no doubt start fighting again in a minute but for now he's just having a little rest, leaning Taurus up against the ropes.
Still in the clinch, Akira scores with a nice short uppercut.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
A left hand lands to the body for Akira.
Akira creates a bit of distance and cracks Taurus with a big uppercut! Taurus goes down! The referee pushes Akira away into a neutral corner and starts the count. 4,5,6,7. Will Taurus make it up in time? He's still flopping around all over the place! The referee has called off the fight! Akira takes it!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:53 of round 2, we have a winner by way of TKO (Punch). Hokuto Akira!
Hokuto Akira retains his welterweight title!
Hokuto Akira decided to thank the fans in attendance for making a great atmosphere. It seemed to go down pretty well.
