Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Tommy Fury (ranked 4300 p4p, 3604 weight class) and Darcy Nixon (ranked 0 p4p, 307 weight class). Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Tommy Fury!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Darcy Nixon!
The judges for this bout are Sandra Marshall, Winston Alpacca and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Fury fails with an attempt to clinch.

Fury darts in and clinches Nixon up against the cage.
Nixon is trying to work out of this bad position, with his back against the cage.
Nixon swings wildly with an uppercut but Fury uses good head movement to avoid it.

Fury manages to pull guard.

Fury is looking for a triangle but Nixon pushes his legs off easily.

Fury has his foot on Nixon's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nixon works his way back into a safe position though.
Fury is looking to sweep but instead, Nixon has passed into half guard.
Nixon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fury keeps working.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Nixon wants to control but Fury is keeping him busy.

Fury looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.
Nixon is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Fury!
Fury tries to lock up and control but Nixon gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.
Fury has given up his back. Will we see Nixon going for some submissions?

Fury rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.
Nixon not doing much here.
Fury is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Fury is refusing to be controlled, as Nixon sits in half guard.

Nixon tries to pass the half guard into mount. Fury knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Fury wants to improve his position but Nixon is controlling well.
Fury is looking to control Nixon's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fury avoid being mounted?

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Nixon is looking for the mount but instead finds himself back in full guard.

Fury is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Nixon trying to control the position from guard on top but Fury is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

That was a close round but I would say that Tommy Fury will probably get the nod.
The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Fury is looking to clinch but Nixon is avoiding it.
Fury on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Nixon swats away the attempt to clinch by Fury.
Nixon circles away from the clinch attempt
and Nixon counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Nixon scores with a jab. Fury acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Fury is looking to clinch.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Nixon throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Fury stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.

and Nixon counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Nixon lands a jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Fury closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Fury blocks a punch to the side of the head.
Fury takes a shot to the head.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Fury manages to pull guard.

Fury has an active guard here but Nixon has managed to pass into half guard.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Nixon wants to free his trapped foot but Fury is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Fury looking for submissions off his back.
Fury moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Fury is active off his back here, looking for submissions.
Nixon trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Fury looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nixon content to stall in guard here.
Nixon wants to control from the top but Fury keeps moving.

Fury has an omoplata and is looking to use it perhaps as a submission or perhaps to transition. Nixon is in a bit of discomfort here, but he's managed to free himself and has dived into side control! That didn't work out too well for Fury.

Fury tries to buck Nixon off but Nixon is having none of it.

Nixon wants to lay and pray for a moment but Fury keeps working.

Fury is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nixon off and has taken his back!
You can see the frustration on Nixon's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.

Fury biding his time, looking for the opening.

Nixon manages to reverse the position and now he's in Fury's guard. Nice work there by Nixon.

Fury working for a triangle but Nixon defends it easily.

Fury is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nixon defends well.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Nixon got a little sloppy there for a moment and Fury has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Nixon has managed to get both his arms back between Fury's legs - danger averted.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Darcy Nixon showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! Let's get this one finished - here comes the final round!

Fury has his head snapped back a nice jab. A little nod from Fury there as he acknowledges the shot.

Fury rushes Nixon and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Nixon lands a hook that snaps the head of Fury backwards.
Fury tries to pull guard but can't drag his opponent to the mat. Nixon just stands there and leans against the cage.
Fury jumps guard but Nixon stands there with Fury around his waist. Fury gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Fury jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Nixon walks away with a smile on his face. Fury gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Tommy Fury. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Fury tries to close the distance and clinch up but Nixon swats him away and circles back towards the center.
Nixon getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Fury wants to clinch
and Fury takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.

Nixon lands a shoulder strike.
Fury blocking some punches.

Fury pulls guard effortlessly.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Nixon is keen to just control but Fury is a slippery customer.

Nixon passes the guard and advances to mount!
Fury manages to regain half guard. Good work.
Fury is pressing down on Nixon's left leg trying to get back to full guard. He's managed it.

Nixon is trying to work a guillotine from the top, or something like that? Don't know how he thinks he's going to get a finish from there.

Fury is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Nixon must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Fury is looking for a guillotine. You can't force these things though and Nixon defends well.

Fury is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.

Nixon works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Nixon works his foot free and advances to mount.
Nixon can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Fury is looking to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Fury keeping his composure momentarily, calmly looking to get back to half guard.

And that's the end of the fight!
Darcy Nixon comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Nixon has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
