PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Denis Hadzo (ranked 4765 p4p, 4222 weight class) and David Omari (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Denis Hadzo!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, David Omari!
The judges for this bout are Roger Salmon, Jeff Smith and Chris Saunders.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Hadzo connects with a looping right hand.
Omari fails with the takedown

and Hadzo counters by clinching up.
Omari has dropped down and is looking to force the takedown but it's defended by Hadzo after a bit of a struggle.
Omari is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Omari has hold of a leg and is looking for a trip takedown. Hadzo avoids it nicely though and we remain in the clinch.
Denis Hadzo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Omari.

Hadzo's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Hadzo uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Omari has time to react.

It looks like David Omari has been cut.
Hadzo lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.
Omari gets his takedown attempt stuffed easily
enabling Hadzo to counter with a crisp jab.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hadzo content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
Omari seems to have recovered his senses.
Hadzo is trying to control the action in half guard but Omari is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.

Omari is staying active underneath Hadzo, who seems content to just control the action from this position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Omari tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Hadzo has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

Omari is squirming around, avoiding Hadzo's attempts to control the action.
Omari reaches up and holds on to Hadzo to control the position.

You get the feeling that Omari really doesn't like being in this position too much.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Omari can do anything to dispel that myth.

Omari is wriggling around trying to escape.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Hadzo tries to control but Omari wriggling away.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The cut man is working on David Omari's cut.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.


Omari shoots in and bounces Hadzo off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Omari really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Hadzo. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Omari chips away with some ground and pound.
Hadzo is trying to control the position but Omari postures up.
Hadzo wants to sweep but no luck.
Omari trying to move into half guard but instead Hadzo has managed to sweep!

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Hadzo is pushing down on Omari's leg trying to pass to half guard. Omari is fighting to maintain full guard but Hadzo has managed to sneak the leg through.
Omari is looking to regain full guard. Not this time though.
Hadzo wants to take a breather but Omari is having none of it.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Omari controlling the position for now.

Omari looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.
Hadzo wants to take a breather but Omari is having none of it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

Hadzo fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Omari, pushing him back against the cage.
Hadzo managing to block the knees to the body from Omari.
Omari is working for takedown but Hadzo is calmly controlling the position for now.

Hadzo has Omari pressed up against the cage. He's trying to work for a single leg takedown. Hadzo pulls back from the cage and twists to the side, sending Omari tumbling to the mat - Hadzo dives into Omari's guard.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Hadzo postures up in Omari's guard and throws a big left but Omari blocks it.
Omari wants to get back to his feet but Hadzo is in a dominant position and won't allow it.

Hadzo wants to control from the top but Omari keeps moving.
Hadzo stands and throws Omari's legs to the side, diving into side control.
Omari wants to control but Hadzo postures up.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Omari seems a little lost for a moment, as Hadzo dominates the positioning.
Hadzo advances nicely into full mount.
Omari really trying hard to get back to half guard here.
Hadzo looking to control but Omari is working nicely, looking to advance position himself.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Denis Hadzo dominated that second round.
The cut man is working on David Omari's cut.
That's time! Hadzo's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight. This is the final round!

Omari closes the distance and clinches up with Hadzo, looking for a takedown. Omari pushes Hadzo against the cage but Hadzo circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
The fighters circle momentarily. Hadzo darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
Omari has his takedown stuffed
and Hadzo cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Denis Hadzo is winning the standup battle so far.
Omari takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.

and Hadzo counters with a straight right hand.
Denis Hadzo has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of David Omari.
Omari fails with the takedown
and Hadzo counters with a straight right hand.
Hadzo drops a shoulder and throws an uppercut that cracks Omari right on the button. Omari goes down! Hadzo follows him to the mat and finishes the job with more strikes! Hadzo gets the win via TKO!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 0:45 of round 3, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Denis Hadzo!
