Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 8 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Mickey Backman!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Veigar Kujawski!
The judges for this bout are Robert Twigg, Chris Downing and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kujawski smiles there as he lands a nice right hand right on the button.
Backman moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.
Backman is looking to chop away at Kujawski's legs.
Kujawski connects with a looping right hand.
Backman ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Backman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Kujawski.
Kujawski swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.
A slow jab from Kujawski misses its intended target.
Kujawski throws an off balance right hand
and Backman counters with a body kick that brings a smile to the face of both fighters.
A head kick misses from Backman.
Kujawski is clearly trying to counter these attacks from Backman with a body shot.
Kujawski keeps his opponent at a distance with a nice jab.
A punch lands to the side of Backman 's head but he takes it in his stride.
Kujawski scores with a nice head shot.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
A lazy left from Kujawski finds it's target.
Kujawski throws out a loose jab but Backman uses good head movement to avoid it.
Kujawski throws a left and a right that both miss

and Backman decides to take the opportunity to score a takedown. He's landed in Kujawski's guard.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Kujawski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Backman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Backman is working Kujawski over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Kujawski is trying to control the position but Backman postures up.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Backman wants to control from the top but Kujawski keeps moving.

Kujawski escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Backman gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Backman slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Kujawski tries to get back to half guard but can't.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Kujawski is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Backman off and has taken his back!

Kujawski can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Backman is looking to escape.
Backman is looking to get to half guard.
Kujawski wants to control the pace but Backman is squirming around nicely.

Kujawski is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Backman can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

Kujawski swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Backman is now in Kujawski's guard. A big mistake from Kujawski there, giving up the dominant position!
Backman won't allow Kujawski to sweep him here.
Backman chips away with some ground and pound.
Backman wants to pass the guard but Kujawski is keeping the position.

Kujawski has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Backman can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Backman has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Backman stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Kujawski swivels though and keeps the full guard.

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Veigar Kujawski dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Kujawski shoots in looking for a takedown but Backman manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Kujawski's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.

Kujawski connects with a lovely right hand, straight down the pipe.

Backman defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Kujawski.

Kujawski is working to isolate an arm here. It's a telegraphed submission attempt but he's gone for it anyway - and he's got it! Kujawski extends the arm and Backman is forced to tap!
