The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Exotic clinches with his opponent.
Exotic looks really tired already! That doesn't bode well for a good, competitive fight!

Exotic escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Exotic blocks a jab.

Souza darts in and lands a nice takedown into half guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Exotic can do anything to dispel that myth.
Still in half guard, Souza seems content to control.
Souza working over Exotic with some ground and pound. Exotic looks like he wants out of this position, which is understandable.
Exotic has hold of Souza's hands but Souza slips his arm to the side and lands an elbow.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Souza takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Souza is thwarting Exotic's attempts to control the position.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Souza in particular looking to stall.

Souza's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.
Souza seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down Exotic for as long as he can get away with.
Souza has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.
Souza drops an elbow to the side of Exotic's head.
Exotic really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Souza. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Souza throws a hard body shot but it just misses.

Souza gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Exotic to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Souza wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.
Souza bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Exotic's guard.

Souza works a leg free and moves into half guard.
Souza looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
This is a sustained period of stalling by Souza.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.
Souza lands with an elbow from half guard - that looked like it hurt.
Souza seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.
Souza is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Exotic!

Souza pushes down on Exotic's leg and manages to get into half guard.
The referee calls for the fighters to work.
Souza uses his free foot to push down on Exotic's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Exotic.

Exotic is in a horrible position here. Souza smacks him with another shot as he tries to escape the position.

Exotic is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Souza pausing momentarily but resumes with a couple of decent strikes that do a bit of damage.
Souza is in the full mount, landing strikes.
Souza looking to control and managing it successfully.
Exotic takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Souza has isolated one of Exotic's arms. Exotic looking to fight him off but Souza twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
