PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Skye Sieler (ranked 4907 p4p, 4717 weight class) and Earl Henry (ranked 497 p4p, 488 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Skye Sieler!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of New York, Earl Henry!
The judges for this bout are Paulsen Ambrosius, Aafke Stam and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sieler throws a leg kick but Henry sees it coming and moves out of range.
Henry is trying hard to land a takedown here. Sieler sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.
Henry dances in quickly and lands a nice inside leg kick on Sieler. That did some damage!
Henry dodges the punch combination from Sieler.
Earl Henry seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sieler takes a step back and watches a body kick go sailing past his mid section.
A counter left hand to the body from Sieler misses its target.

Henry shoots in and gets a takedown into Sieler's guard.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Henry is fighting to break Sieler's control of his arms but Sieler is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.
Sieler's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Henry dives in for a single leg takedown but Sieler sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Henry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sieler tries to avoid it but Henry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sieler to the ground. Sieler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Skye Sieler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earl Henry.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Sieler misses with a head kick.
Sieler misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Henry.
Henry looks for a takedown but Sieler sprawls well.
Sieler is looking to counter with head kicks.
Sieler doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
Sieler tries a head kick but it misses.
Sieler takes one to the side of the head.
Henry throws a looping left and ducks down for a takedown. He's got his arms around Sieler's waist but Sieler gets an underhook and avoids the takedown by throwing Henry off to one side.

Sieler shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. Henry is trying to defend but Sieler finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.

Sieler postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Henry to stand up.

Henry fails to land the takedown.
It appears Sieler was looking to counter with a kick there.

Henry gets caught flat footed, as Sieler shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.

Henry is working an open guard so Sieler takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Jab, jab by Henry - just one landing.
Henry shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Sieler but Sieler pushes him off and we're back to square one.

and Sieler counters with a nice shoot takedown that brings the fighters to the ground.
Henry wants to stand up but Sieler is controlling him.

Sieler stands up and waves to Henry to follow him.
No luck with that takedown attempt from Henry.
Sieler appears to be looking for a big counter.
Henry changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Sieler tries to avoid it but Henry manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Sieler to the ground. Sieler escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.

Sieler closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Henry is trying to escape back to his feet but Sieler uses the scramble to pass into side control.
Henry looks winded!
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sieler decides to stand up, so the ref orders Henry to his feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Sieler drops down looking for a counter takedown but Henry sprawls and moves away.
A really sloppy takedown attempt there from Henry.
Henry wants to clinch up but Sieler keeps it at a distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Sieler lands with a straight right. Henry didn't see that one coming.

Sieler throws a loose over hand right and dives in with a double leg takedown. Henry tries to sprawl but it's too late and the fighters hit the mat. Sieler is in Henry's guard.

Sieler decides to stand up and beckons his opponent to follow.
Henry lands a jab-cross combination.

Henry throws a sloppy head kick and Sieler moves out of range easily.
Sieler throws a nice hook to the body that draws an oooh from the crowd.
Henry is breathing heavily.
Sieler defends well against a solid takedown attempt from Henry.
Skye Sieler has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Earl Henry.

Henry scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.

Henry throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
It looked like Sieler was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Henry blocks the body kick.
The fight stays on the outside here - Henry looks like he's thinking about clinching though.
Sieler attempts a counter takedown but Henry avoids it well and moves away.

Sieler is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Henry can do to turn this around?

Sieler decides to stand and escape the position.
Henry dives in and grabs Sieler's left leg, looking for a takedown. Sieler pushes down on Henry's head and hops out.
Sieler attempts a counter takedown but Henry avoids it well and moves away.

Henry gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Sieler to score an easy takedown into full guard.

Sieler gets to his feet - Henry follows without any prompting.
Henry checks a leg kick.
Sieler stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Sieler wants it to stay on the feet.
Earl Henry is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Henry enables Sieler to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Henry manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Sieler stands up and waves to Henry to follow him.

Henry tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Sieler defends well and Henry ends up having to push Sieler into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Sieler scores with a nice takedown into half guard. Let's see what he's got on the ground.
Henry is looking to get back to is feet but Sieler passes into side control.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! Let's hear some noise people - this is the final round!

enabling Henry to counter with a crisp jab.

Sieler is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Henry's half guard.

Sieler decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.

Excellent takedown into side control there by Henry.

Sieler regains half guard.
Sieler gets back to full guard.
Sieler is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Sieler preventing the ground and pound from doing any damage.
Sieler has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Sieler continues to stall.

Henry has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Sieler is proving hard to escape from.
We must be close to a standup if these guys don't pick up the pace.
Sieler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Henry's guard.

Sieler not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.

Sieler gets to his feet. Henry looking to butt scoot but the ref puts an end to that. On your feet son!

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Sieler keeps the fight on the outside.
Henry fails with the takedown

and Sieler counters with a takedown into side control! That could mean trouble for Henry!
Sieler is moving around in side control but his primary objective seems to be to maintain the position.

Sieler stands up.
Skye Sieler is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.
The fighters circling - Sieler throws out the jab but it was never going to land.

And that's the end of the fight!
Skye Sieler showed his dominance in that final round.
Well I reckon that's a shut out for Sieler, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
