Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Wiremu West (ranked 4262 p4p, 4220 weight class) and Ulf Bille (ranked 326 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Winston Alpacca and Peter Branson.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bille lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Ulf Bille seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
West takes a jab on the nose there. A little bit of blood seems to be coming out. Hopefully that won't affect his breathing.
Bille misses with a few strikes there.
West half commits to a counter takedown before pushing away, out of range.

Bille bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Bille cracks West with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

A punch lands to the side of West 's head but he takes it in his stride.

A left and a right from Bille both land. Nice combination.
Bille comes forward and lands a shot to the body, then darts back out of range.
West on the wrong end of a decent looking cross there.

West closes the distance and gets a trip takedown into side control. Bille quickly recovers to half guard.

West is sneakily working for an arm triangle but Bille sees it coming and defends easily.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

West has knee on belly and moves into mount.

West is thinking about an arm triangle here, looking to tighten it up before moving to side control. Bille can see it coming though and defends well with a couple of strikes to the head and some good arm positioning.

West has control of Bille's right arm, working for a kimura. It's a bit of a token attempt though and Bille regains control of the situation pretty easily.

West is in full mount, looking to secure a guillotine but Bille is surviving well by controlling West's body position as best he can.

Bille has given up his back - I don’t know if this is a deliberate ploy to try and escape or if he is just struggling down there.

Bille is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get West off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

West is working for the rear naked choke. He has one arm under the chin but Bille has hold of the other arm. A bit of a stalemate here.
Bille rolls and manages to get back to half guard. Nicely done.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the final round!

West has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Bille finds it's way round the side to connect with West's head.
Bille lands three nice shots there - that looked like it hurt!
West with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Bille to score with a decent uppercut.

West closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

West is looking for a kimura. It's pretty deep but Bille still has the half guard so he's probably OK. Oh, Bille has exploded into a beautiful escape there and after a quick scramble, he's ended up in side control on top! Nice work!

West is working for an escape here. He's hooked one of Bille's legs and he's managed to sneak out and take Bille's back!

Bille got a little sloppy there for a moment and West has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Bille has managed to get both his arms back between West's legs - danger averted.
Bille must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Wiremu West.
