Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Small Richard!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Manuel Sousa!
The judges for this bout are Michael Johnstone, Sandra Marshall and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sousa scores with a sloppy right hand. Richard should have avoided that one.

Sousa has managed to clinch.
Sousa pushes Richard back against the cage and lands a hook to the side of the head.
Sousa stops a takedown attempt from Richard.

Sousa breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Sousa scores with a hook to the body. Richard takes a step back and tries to catch his breath.
Sousa lands a jab to the nose.

Sousa closes the distance and clinches.
Sousa lands a nice elbow from the clinch.

Richard tightens his grip and picks Sousa up, before dumping him to the ground. Sousa manages to land in guard.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Richard is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Sousa is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Richard is controlling him.
Sousa is looking to stand back up... there's a bit of a scramble and Richard dives into side control.
Sousa really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Richard. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Richard working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Richard is trying to get an arm triangle but Sousa is defending well.

Richard tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Richard has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Sousa is not content to let Richard control the position.

Richard is looking to finish here, going for an Americana. Sousa knows the correct defense though, so he's OK.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Sousa is putting a lot of effort into getting back to his feet here.

Richard is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Sousa looks calm but he's in trouble here. Richard gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Sousa is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Richard lets go of the hold and Sousa can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:55 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Small Richard!
