PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Greg Motino (ranked 23415 p4p, 3825 weight class) and Scott Dolton (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Dolton has chosen Paradise Warfare as his entrance music, which hasn't gone down very well with the crowd. Scott Dolton is the more experienced fighter, so let's see if that makes a difference tonight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Amsterdam, Greg Motino!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Scott Dolton!
The judges for this bout are Patrick Alders, Wagner Zegers and Radbod Blank.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Dolton scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Dolton controls the position.
Dolton advances to full mount.
My spies in Count Dante's Deadliest Academy inform me that Dolton has been getting involved in the gym's BJJ sparring sessions. Let's see whether that pays dividends!
Motino wants to hold on but Dolton pushes him away.

Dolton is standing up out of mount! Strange tactic there - he must really want this one on the feet!
Motino lands a right hook to the body.
Dolton looks for a takedown here. Will he get it? Motino is fending him off so far but Dolton persists. Nope, Motino circles away and we're back to standing.
Motino moves in looking to clinch but Dolton pushes him off.
We've been told by Motino's head coaches at Chuckles Strenght and Conditioning that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Motino wants to clinch.
Dolton shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

Dolton dives in and scores a takedown into Motino's guard.
Dolton controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Dolton stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Motino swivels though and keeps the full guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Dolton slows down the pace of the fight, as he sits in guard.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.

Dolton bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Motino! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

It looks like Greg Motino has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!

Motino is pulling down on Dolton's head. It's preventing any offense from Dolton, at least for the moment.
Motino wants to control the position but Dolton says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.

Dolton decides he's had enough of the ground and stands up.
Dolton shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Motino sprawls well. Motino wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Dolton gets slowly back to his feet.

Motino clinches up against the cage.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Motino tries a knee to the head but he's missed.
A short right hand to the side of the head by Motino.
Motino lands a short shot on the inside that snaps the head of Dolton backwards.
Motino lands a good knee to the midsection. Dolton won't want to take too many of those.
Motino lands a nice uppercut.
Motino has a couple of punches blocked by Dolton.
Dolton working aggressively here.
Dolton misses with a punch to the body.
Motino is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Dolton is keeping busy.
Motino is trying to maintain a safe position but Dolton gets an underhook and turns Motino into the cage.
Motino can't seem to implement his control oriented gameplan at the moment. That's no bad thing of course, for those of us who want to see a good fight.
The fighters are starting to get sweaty, which will make takedowns a bit more tricky.
Dolton tries a shoulder strike but it doesn't do any damage.

Dolton has clasped his hands together around Motino's back... aaand, he's got a takedown into side control. Nicely done.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Motino is trying to get back to half guard.
Motino wants to control but Dolton postures up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Scott Dolton dominated that round.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Dolton avoids a punch combination nicely.
Motino tries to close the distance and clinch but Dolton swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.
Motino sets himself, and Dolton steps forward looking for the clinch! Motino avoids it this time.
Dolton with poor footwork there. He got himself in a bit of a tangle, enabling Motino to score with a decent uppercut.

Dolton feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.

Motino wants to get back to his feet but Dolton is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Motino tries to roll over but Dolton keeps him under control.
It looks like Dolton is going to stand back up.
Scott Dolton has got the better of the ground game so far.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Motino throws a feint and then finishes with a kick to the body.
Greg Motino is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Dolton cracks Motino with a good jab.
Motino scores with a jab. Dolton acknowledges it with a nod of the head.
Motino misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Motino connects with a right hand. Dolton shakes it off.
Dolton shoots and misses
and Motino counters with a straight punch to the midsection.

Motino throws a sloppy head kick and Dolton moves out of range easily.
Dolton fails with the takedown.

Dolton shoots in for a takedown and gets it. Let's see what he's got on the mat.
Motino has control of Dolton's left arm, preventing Dolton from doing any damage.
Dolton controls from within his opponent's guard.
Motino is trying to keep Dolton in close.

Motino looking to hit a scissor sweep but Dolton is one step ahead there.

That was a close second round but I would say that Greg Motino will probably get the nod.

Motino throws a right and a left that Dolton avoids nicely.
Motino tries to clinch but Dolton is having none of it.
Motino goes for a spinning back kick but it misses.
Motino wants to clinch but Dolton slips to the side

so Dolton counters with a double leg into guard. Good agility.

Dolton is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Motino wants to sweep but no luck.
Dolton is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Motino is trying to control the position from the bottom.

The referee has stepped in and called for a break in the action. We'll restart on the feet.
Motino misses with a two punch combination.
Dolton feints the counter takedown.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Dolton changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Motino tries to avoid it but Dolton manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Motino to the ground. Motino escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Motino is looking for a counter combo.
Dolton gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Motino.
Motino lands a head kick!
Dolton swats away the attempt to clinch by Motino.
Dolton tries a counter takedown but it's more of a dummy move, and he uses it to push himself away.

Dolton shoots in and gets a takedown into Motino's guard.
Dolton slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.

Dolton is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Dolton wants to control but Motino is keeping him busy.
Motino has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Dolton is working away from the top position though.

Dolton is looking for a kimura here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Motino is looking to improve his position.
Motino wants to get back to his feet.
It looks like the ref is thinking about a standup.

Motino looked to counter that last move with a leg kick but didn't pull the trigger.

And that's the end of the fight!
I would just about give that final round to Scott Dolton.
I think Dolton has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
