Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Brett Barker!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Hilo, Dennis Moody!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Timothy Bukovac.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barker scores with a leg kick.
Barker fakes a jab and then connects with a hook.
Barker misses with a few strikes there.
Moody shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

It looks like Dennis Moody has been cut.
Moody throws a head kick but Barker moves out of range.
Barker misses with a double jab.
Moody with the counter takedown but Barker avoids it easily.
Moody avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
Barker throws a combination that misses
and Moody counters with a series of strikes. Barker will be more careful next time no doubt.
Moody pulls out of a head kick attempt.
Moody shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Barker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.
Moody is trying hard to land a takedown here. Barker sprawls well and keeps this one on the feet.

Barker bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!

Moody is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Barker misses with a two punch combination.
Moody works over Barker's head and body with a nice combination.

Moody closes the distance and presses his opponent up against the cage.
Moody just leaning against Barker, taking a breather.
The referee calls for Moody to work.
Moody receives a warning from the referee for stalling.
Moody prevents Barker from breaking the clinch.
Barker is pressed up against the cage. Moody has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Barker down to the mat. Barker avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

Moody walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.

Barker went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.
Barker throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

Barker wants to stand and escape but Moody is having none of it.

Moody must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barker kicks Moody off and gets to his feet.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
Barker throws a wild combination but nothing lands.
Moody on the wrong end of a nice hook.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Moody pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Barker throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Moody.
Barker is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Moody can do to turn this around?

Barker falls off balance throwing a combination

and Moody counters into the clinch. Nicely done.
Barker is trying to push Moody away but Moody has him pressed against the cage, so he's going nowhere.

Moody jumps into guard, dragging Barker to the mat.
Moody manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barker manages to get himself to full guard.

Barker wants to stand up but Moody is controlling him.

Moody stands up from guard. Let's bang!

Moody has managed to clinch.
Moody is trying to pull guard but Barker turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Barker breaks from the clinch.

Moody rushes Barker and presses him up against the cage.
Moody has Barker pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Barker manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Moody is stalling here. The referee will be looking to step in if he doesn't pick up the pace.

Moody escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Barker lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Moody tries to land a body kick
and Barker cracks him with a counter punch right on the button.

Moody gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Barker.
Moody slips a jab and a cross from Barker.
Brett Barker is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.
Moody misses with a takedown attempt. He shot from a bit too far out.
Brett Barker has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Dennis Moody.
Whack! Barker lands a heavy head kick that drops Moody. The ref tackles Barker to stop the fight - a great save by the referee because Moody was done.
