PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Iwin Alot (ranked 2635 p4p, 2741 weight class) and Ankle Breaker (ranked 252 p4p, 263 weight class). Alot comes to the cage accompanied by Return of the mack. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 3 - 0, fighting out of New York, Iwin Alot!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Ankle Breaker!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Columbo Gatti and Anthony Taglia.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Breaker closes the distance and clinches up with Alot, looking for a takedown. Breaker pushes Alot against the cage but Alot circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Alot definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.
Breaker tries to score a power double leg takedown but Alot sees that one coming and sprawls well. That will dishearten Breaker somewhat.
Breaker shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Alot sprawls well. Alot wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Breaker gets slowly back to his feet.
Iwin Alot has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ankle Breaker.
Alot throws a hook but Breaker avoids it easily.
Breaker shoots in for a takedown but Alot shows good takedown defense.
Breaker shoots in looking for a takedown. Alot tries to sprawl out of it but Breaker keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Alot manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Alot scores with a sloppy punch to the body. Not much technique there but it did the business.

Breaker closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Alot to the mat! Alot manages to get full guard.
Breaker throws a big right hand that misses.

Alot is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Breaker got a little sloppy there for a moment and Alot has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Breaker has managed to get both his arms back between Alot's legs - danger averted.
Alot is trying to control the position but Breaker postures up.
Alot will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Breaker postures up and lands some nice ground and pound.

Alot is looking for a triangle but Breaker pushes his legs off easily.

Alot utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Breaker trying to control the position from guard on top but Alot is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.

Alot is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Breaker is aware though and is defending well.

Breaker wants to control from the top but Alot keeps moving.
Breaker passes Alot's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Breaker is thinking about going for an arm triangle but he can't free his leg.
Alot wants to control but Breaker is keeping busy and won't allow it.

Alot is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Breaker pulls his head out easily.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Breaker missing with the ground and pound from half guard.

Breaker looking for a kimura but he'll have to free his other leg if he wants to finish that. Perhaps he's just using it as a distraction technique.
Breaker tries to pass the half guard into mount. Alot knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.

Breaker is still trying to improve position.

Alot looking to work for a kimura from the bottom.

Alot looking for submissions from an awkward position here.
Breaker is looking to pass the guard... He's managed it - he's now in full mount!
Alot wants to hold on but Breaker pushes him away.

Alot is working to get back to half guard.
Alot is squirming around, avoiding Breaker's attempts to control the action.
Breaker in mount throwing good strikes here, bouncing his opponent's head off the canvas.
Breaker lands a nice shot to the head.
Alot is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Breaker looking to control and managing it successfully.
Alot is wriggling around trying to escape.
Alot tries to control Breaker's body but Breaker pushes him off. Alot squirms to his side and now Breaker has his back!

Breaker has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Alot has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Alot trying to control the hands but Breaker breaks the grip.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Ankle Breaker dominated that round.
That's time! Back to the action!

Alot lands an overhand right.
Alot looks to score with a combo but nothing lands.
Alot cracks Breaker with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
A decent looking cross lands there for Alot.

Breaker gets a takedown into half guard.

Breaker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alot has managed to free his arm - good work.
Alot trying to control here.
Breaker wants to control but Alot is keeping him busy.
Breaker is nestled in close to Alot, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.
Alot avoiding damage under a succession of punches from Breaker.

Breaker winds up and cracks Alot with a swinging punch to the side of the head.

Breaker is trying to work for a kimura. This could be trouble! No, Alot has managed to free his arm - good work.

Alot trying to hold on to Breaker's head to control him but Breaker postures up.
Alot trying to get back to full guard but Breaker takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!

Breaker is working for a guillotine from mount but Alot frees his head quite easily.

Alot tries to reverse the position but Breaker maintains control.

Breaker jumps to side control looking for an arm triangle but Alot manages to avoid the submission attempt.

Breaker thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.

Alot moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Breaker stands and throws Alot's legs to the side, diving into side control.

Breaker works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Breaker wants to control but Alot is keeping him busy.
Alot is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.

Ankle Breaker showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Ankle Breaker has got the better of the ground game so far.

Alot isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Breaker stacks Alot on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Breaker!

Alot is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Breaker is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Will Breaker go for the finish here or will he try and keep control of the position?

Iwin Alot has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
Oooh a big shot gets through from Breaker. Many more shots like that and the referee will have to think about stepping in!
Well, with Breaker on his back, surely it's only a matter of time before Alot is tapping out... Can he escape the position?
