PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between DeMarco Zilla (ranked 4673 p4p, 3564 weight class) and Saul Tacarante (ranked 237 p4p, 193 weight class). On his way into the cage it seems that DeMarco Zilla has been attacked by a crazed fan! It looks like it might have been the just bleed guy! Luckily DeMarco Zilla seems to be OK! I thought that lunatic was in prison!?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Saul Tacarante!
The judges for this bout are Marco Blurström, Roosa Järviläinen and Johanna Lukiainen.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tacarante connects with a right hand. Zilla shakes it off.
Tacarante lands a head shot.

Tacarante scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Zilla struggling a bit here.
Tacarante is looking to take a break and control but Zilla is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Tacarante swings around for an armbar but Zilla sees it coming a mile off and turns beautifully into Tacarante's guard.

Tacarante escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Zilla gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
Zilla wants to stand but Tacarante is controlling his posture from full guard.

Tacarante is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.

Tacarante is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Zilla pulls his head out easily.

Zilla is working for submissions here but there's nothing on.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
Tacarante is trying to control but Zilla passes into side control!
Tacarante tries to bench press Zilla off him but Zilla keeps the position.
Zilla in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Tacarante can't do much from the bottom here.
A lull in the action here as Zilla stalls from top position.

Zilla misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.

Zilla is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Tacarante is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Zilla controls the position from side control.
Zilla tries to land with some ground and pound but misses.
You can see the frustration on Tacarante's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
The referee asks Zilla politely if he wouldn't mind getting on with it and actually doing something. Zilla prefers to stall for the moment though.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Tacarante manages to work his way to half guard, despite Zilla's best efforts.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Tacarante's jab looks to have found its range, popping Zilla under the eye.
Saul Tacarante seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Tacarante lands with a shot to the body.

Tacarante shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Zilla but Zilla pushes him off and we're back to square one.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Zilla keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.

Tacarante bobs and weaves and throws out a fast jab that snaps Zilla's head backwards.

Tacarante swings and misses with a hook to the body.

Tacarante walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Tacarante misses with a straight left.
A little feinted left hand from Zilla on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Tacarante feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Zillas jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!
A looping hook to the body misses from Tacarante. Zilla does a little dance to reset his feet.
Zilla takes a hook to the side of the head. I wonder if that's got his ears ringing.
We've been informed that Tacarante has been working hard on his conditioning in the buildup to the fight.
Tacarante sizes up Zilla with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.

Zilla misses with a kick to the body.
Tacarante scores with a decent looking hook.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

and Zilla counters with an inside leg kick.
Tacarante scores with a body shot.
Zilla walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Tacarante throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Zilla sees it coming and avoids it easily.
A quick step to the side and Zilla tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.
Zilla has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Tacarante finds it's way round the side to connect with Zilla's head.
Tacarante wings a very wild body shot but it does the job and lands to the midsection.

Zilla takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.
Tacarante lands with a right hand.

Zilla is rocked!
Zilla takes a solid shot to the body. That one hurt him but he's trying not to show it.
Oh Zilla is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!
Tacarante cracks Zilla on the jaw with a powerful right hand and Zilla falls backwards against the cage. Tacarante follows up with more strikes that drop Zilla to his knees. Tacarante keeps the pressure on and the referee jumps in to save Zilla! This one is all over!
