Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Macka Briggs (ranked 757 p4p, 2100 weight class) and Kazuya Mishima (ranked 104 p4p, 274 weight class). Briggs comes to the cage accompanied by Stepping Razor by Peter Tosh. Mishima comes into a darkened arena with his song building. Techno Syndrome Mortal Kombat kicks in, the lights come on and the crowd goes wild! What a showman! Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Macka Briggs!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.

The judges for this bout are Bruno Lombardi, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Briggs bobs and weaves and unloads with a good uppercut.
Briggs shoots and misses
and Mishima makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.
Briggs definitely looks more muscular than last time we saw him fight.

Mishima stuns Briggs with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.
Mishima feints a straight left to the body, then turns around with a flashy move and hits Briggss jaw with a dramatic spinning back fist!

It looks like Macka Briggs has been cut.
Briggs tries for a takedown but Mishima circles away easily
and Mishima counters with a nice low kick that buckles Briggs's knee momentarily.

Mishima ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Briggs moves away.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Mishima has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Briggs shoots in for a takedown. He's persisting with it as Mishima sprawls well. Mishima wins this battle and keeps the fight standing. Briggs gets slowly back to his feet.
Mishima tries a quick counter leg kick but Briggs is wise to it.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Macka Briggs. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Briggs will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Briggs does a little shimmy and throws a leg kick. The leg kick missed by a considerable margin though, making him look a little bit silly for doing the shimmy.

Briggs is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Mishima throws a hook to the side of Briggs's head but Briggs sees it coming and ducks under it beautifully.
Macka Briggs seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Briggs tries to clinch up against the cage, rushing in to close the distance. Mishima manages to break the clinch and circles back to the middle of the mat.

Mishima throws a wild hook but Briggs just manages to duck under it and - ooooh! Mishima gets nailed by a brutal uppercut which crumples him back against the cage! The referee jumps in - Briggs raises his hands in celebration and walks away!
