PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Gakus Amiga (ranked 24599 p4p, 4306 weight class) and Ionas Demetriou (ranked 0 p4p, 149 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Amiga displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Demetriou.
A quick step to the side and Amiga tries to counter with a shot to the body but it doesn't connect.

Amiga closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.
Amiga is thwarting Demetriou's attempts to control the position.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Demetriou wants to improve his position but Amiga is controlling well.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Amiga knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Demetriou on the ground.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
No luck for Demetriou with that takedown attempt.
And Amiga counters with a quick kick to the body but Demetriou blocks it.
Demetriou shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Amiga as he avoids it easily.
Gakus Amiga has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Ionas Demetriou.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.

Amiga throws a quick counter kick to the body but Demetriou avoids it.

Amiga drives through with a takedown into Demetriou's guard. Let's see what he can do from the top position.

Demetriou is working actively off his back, looking to secure an arm or perhaps work for a triangle.

Demetriou looking to try and escape his hips here, looking for a submission. It looks like he's going for a triangle but Amiga is defending well. Demetriou quickly switches to an armbar and extends the arm! Amiga has no choice but to tap, to a very quick submission! Wow, that was lightning fast! Demetriou celebrates on the cage, with the crowd.

A very excited looking Ionas Demetriou rambled incoherently for about 5 minutes post fight about how awesome he is. It was kinda funny for a while but then everyone got annoyed.
