Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Reggie Barnes (ranked 1199 p4p, 1408 weight class) and Mattias Lundgren (ranked 165 p4p, 188 weight class). Mattias Lundgren acknowledges the crowd's support as he enters the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 11 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Reggie Barnes!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 20 - 15 - 0, fighting out of New York, Mattias Lundgren!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Ron Honeybunn and Steve Erwin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lundgren will have to do better than that with his takedown attempts.
Barnes appears to be looking for a big counter.
Barnes throws a head kick that misses.
Barnes takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

Lundgren shoots in for a takedown and gets it.
Lundgren prevents Barnes from standing back up.
Barnes has a hand on Lundgren's thigh, trying to get back to full guard. Lundgren takes advantage of the position though and mounts him!
Lundgren can't quite control the action as he would like just now, as Barnes is looking to escape.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Lundgren fakes a shot to the body and cracks his opponent in the head. Nice ground and pound there!

Lundgren is looking to secure an arm. He's managed it! He's pivoting for an armbar - that looks tight! But Barnes has managed to get out of it and now he's in a dominant position. Nice work from Barnes!

Lundgren manages to sweep nicely, so he's now on top. Barnes manages to get himself to full guard.

Barnes can't keep his opponent in guard - Lundgren advances to half guard, no doubt looking to mount.
Barnes tries to roll over but Lundgren keeps him under control.

Lundgren uses his free foot to push down on Barnes's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Barnes.

Barnes takes a big shot to the head but keeps on trying to improve his position.

Barnes defends a decent attempt at a guillotine from Lundgren.

Lundgren goes for an armbar but he's fallen flat on his backside there and now Barnes is on top in guard.
This has been an exciting period of action!

Barnes working some ground and pound from guard but it's not doing any damage.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Barnes wants to control from the top but Lundgren keeps moving.
Barnes is really struggling to control Lundgren but he's trying to hold on to the position.
Lundgren is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Barnes postures up in Lundgren's guard and throws a big left but Lundgren blocks it.
Lundgren lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Lundgren pushes down on Barnes's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Lundgren is looking for an arm triangle, whilst trying to pass to side control. Barnes doesn't seem that keen to cooperate though. No luck this time Lundgren.
Lundgren wants to free his trapped foot but Barnes is holding on for dear life with his legs.

Lundgren is taking a breather. Barnes says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Lundgren is working for a kimura but Barnes is defending it quite comfortably.

Lundgren tries to close the distance and clinch but Barnes swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Lundgren shoots in looking for a takedown. Barnes tries to sprawl out of it but Lundgren keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Barnes manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Barnes throws a quick counter kick to the body but Lundgren avoids it.

Lundgren stumbles momentarily as he takes a strong leg kick from Barnes.
Barnes stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Barnes wants it to stay on the feet.

Lundgren closes this distance looking for a takedown but Barnes circles away.
Barnes throws a right and a left that Lundgren avoids nicely.
Lundgren blocks a jab.
Barnes throws a combination but comes up with nothing but fresh air.
Lundgren has his hands up protecting his head but a hook from Barnes finds it's way round the side to connect with Lundgren's head.

and Lundgren counters with a nice double leg into side control. Barnes won't be happy with that.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
Barnes tries to buck Lundgren off but Lundgren is having none of it.

Lundgren thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
The referee tells the fighters to keep busy.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Lundgren lands an elbow.

Lundgren tries for a kimura but Barnes is defending well.
Lundgren throwing strikes but missing, from side control.
Barnes manages to get one leg in to regain half guard.
Lundgren looks towards his corner to check for any instructions. The corner give him nothing to work with, so he cracks Barnes with a short hammerfist. I guess that's as good as any advice he could get in this position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Barnes is trying to get back to full guard.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Lundgren is looking for the choke from the back position but Barnes is controlling his hands well.
The crowd hopeful of a finish here - Lundgren's supporters are on their feet, screaming for him to go for the rear naked choke.
Barnes is really stuck here.
So, who will make the next big move? In this position it could be crucial.
Barnes is trying to get back to his feet but Lundgren has full control of the position and if anything, Barnes has just worked his way into a worse spot.

Lundgren is looking for a choke. Barnes gets to his feet with his opponent on his back and slams him to the mat. Barnes manages to squirm out of the attempted choke and turns into his opponent's guard.

Barnes got a little sloppy there for a moment and Lundgren has worked his way into a loose triangle - can he finish it?! No, Barnes has managed to get both his arms back between Lundgren's legs - danger averted.

And that's the end of the fight!
Mattias Lundgren comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
I think Lundgren has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.

Mattias Lundgren decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
