Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Jota Be (ranked 2523 p4p, 992 weight class) and Joe Mendez (ranked 294 p4p, 131 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 9 - 10 - 0, fighting out of New York, Jota Be!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 10 - 7 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Joe Mendez!
The judges for this bout are James Atkins, Donald Grub and Paul Tew.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Be tries to land a leg kick but Mendez saw it coming and moves away.
Mendez lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
It looks like Jota Be has been cut.
Mendez looks to land a right hand but Be moved out of range.
An attempted straight right counter from Be misses the target.
Mendez misses the jab.
Be feinted there with a counter leg kick.
A telegraphed right hand from Be misses the target.
Mendez works the jab nicely.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Mendez's jab looks to have found its range, popping Be under the eye.
Mendez misses with a wild body shot.
That's one minute gone in the round.
Mendez throws a shot to the body.
Be fakes a head punch and goes low to the body. Nicely done.
Mendez misses with a left hand
and Be counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps Mendez thinking.
Mendez fails to land with a series of punches.
Mendez looks to score with a jab to the body but Be is just out of range.
Be is looking to counter punch.
Mendez throws a right and a left that both miss.
Be throwing a counter right hand but Mendez manages to avoid it.
Be looks to score with a jab to the body but Mendez is just out of range.
And Mendez tries to counter it with a takedown but Be pushes his down on his head and steps out.
That's two minutes gone in the round.
Mendez connects with a nice looking jab.
Be takes a shot to the body in his stride.
Be rushes in with a sloppy looking punch
enabling Mendez to counter with a crisp jab.
A good leg kick by Be.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Mendez lands a big right hook! Be looks hurt but is still standing! Mendez lands a left jab and another right hook! This time Be falls down and Mendez dives in with a huge hammer fist! Be's eyes roll back! The referee calls for the bell and Mendez runs up the cage to celebrate with his fans!
Ladies and gentlemen, after 2:39 of round 1, we have a winner by way of KO (Punches). Joe Mendez!
