PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Ming Quan (ranked 4337 p4p, 4252 weight class) and Freddy Kruger (ranked 487 p4p, 483 weight class). Quan comes to the cage accompanied by Flash - Queen. Freddy Kruger will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Freddy Kruger!
The judges for this bout are Colin Fray, Ryoma Takatsuka and Paul Gruel.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Quan shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Kruger defends it nicely.
Kruger counters with a body kick.
Quan tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Kruger was well out of range. Poor timing from Quan.
Kruger shoots in for a takedown. "I don't think so" says Quan as he avoids it easily.
Kruger shoots in but Quan avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Quan closes the distance and clinches.
Quan is defending well against a takedown attempt.
Ming Quan has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Freddy Kruger.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Quan tries to land knees in the clinch but Kruger avoids the damage to the body.

Kruger is fighting off a takedown attempt but Quan is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Kruger to the mat. Kruger regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Well, if Quan is going to just lie there, perhaps we should talk about what we're having for dinner tonight… I'm having a ham and pineapple pizza… Yum. Can't wait.

Kruger on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Quan in particular looking to stall.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Kruger can do anything to dispel that myth.

Kruger tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Quan has advanced to mount. Uh oh.
Kruger is trying desperately to improve position.

Kruger throwing punches from his back but nothing is landing.
Quan tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
Kruger really doesn't want to stay on the ground with Quan. If he can't get it back to his feet, it's only a matter of time before he'll be tapping out.
Kruger is trying to escape the mount.
Quan lands a big shot there that rocks Kruger but he's holding on and managing to survive for now.
We've been hearing good reports from Quan's training camp. Apparently he has been rolling around with some good quality BJJ practitioners and has been sharpening his skills. Let's see if that has an impact on the fight today.

Quan has isolated one of Kruger's arms. Kruger looking to fight him off but Quan twists into an armbar. It's tight... Will he tap?? YES, he's tapped! This one is all over!
