Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Perrin Valentine (ranked 4789 p4p, 4277 weight class) and Hamilcar Barcid (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Perrin Valentine!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Hamilcar Barcid!
The judges for this bout are Darius Henderson, Donatello Bradman and Winston Howard.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Barcid changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Valentine looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Valentine is looking to regain half guard here but Barcid keeps moving and retains side control.
Barcid wants to control but Valentine is keeping him busy.
Barcid scores with a couple of nice shots to the head there. The referee takes a look at Valentine to see if he's OK.
Barcid trying to control the action but Valentine is working from the bottom.
Barcid cracks Valentine with an elbow. That is naaassty.
Barcid lands a nice forearm strike.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Valentine has a loose triangle. He'll be looking to tighten that up but Barcid can see exactly what he's planning and manages to posture up and free himself.

Barcid stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Valentine swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Valentine lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.
Barcid tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Barcid has a closed guard, preventing anything of note from happening. Perhaps he's looking to stall.
Valentine wants to pass the guard but Barcid is keeping the position.
Valentine is fighting to break Barcid's control of his arms but Barcid is doing a good job of controlling the position at the moment.

Barcid bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Valentine's guard.
Valentine has momentary wrist control but Barcid slips an elbow through the middle.
Barcid won't allow Valentine to sweep him here.
Barcid looking to control the position here, rather than advance.
Barcid prevents Valentine from getting back to his feet.
Barcid chips away with some ground and pound.
Barcid must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Barcid connects with a couple of short punches.
Barcid is working Valentine over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.

Barcid seems content to control from guard here. He's going to have to remain active though if he doesn't want to get stood back up.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Hamilcar Barcid dominated that round.
That's time! Valentine's corner gives him a slap on the ass as he gets ready to fight.
Barcid manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Valentine on his heels. He'll look to pass Valentine's guard now, I'm sure.
Barcid is in close to Valentine's body, working some short punches and elbows.
Barcid has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Barcid lands a couple of decent looking shots.
Barcid is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.

Valentine is working for submissions here. He's thrown up his legs looking for a triangle but Barcid frees his head nicely. Oh but Valentine has switched to an armbar! Barcid is tapping furiously! Lovely submission there!
