PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Steven Seagal (ranked 2709 p4p, 5294 weight class) and Ron Austin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Seagal comes to the cage accompanied by Not for Sale. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 19 - 20 - 0, fighting out of London, Steven Seagal!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 8 - 19 - 0, fighting out of New York, Ron Austin!
The judges for this bout are Donald Grub, William Gold and James Atkins.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Seagal is moving around nicely and scores here with a single head shot.
Austin shoots in for a takedown but doesn't get it.
No luck for Austin with that takedown attempt.
Seagal missing with a left hand there. Austin was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Seagal tries to bum rush Austin with a series of wild strikes but Austin uses good footwork to avoid the assault.
Seagal looks to land a combination. Austin sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.
Seagal connects with a slap. Keep your fist closed son.

Austin manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Seagal on his heels. He'll look to pass Seagal's guard now, I'm sure.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Austin stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Seagal swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Seagal wants to get back to his feet but Austin is in a dominant position and won't allow it.
Austin works a leg free and moves into half guard.

Austin tries to pass the half guard into mount. Seagal knows what he's doing though and prevents the attempt.
Seagal pushes Austin off looking to stand but Austin dives back in and keeps control.

Ron Austin seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Austin takes one on the chin but keeps coming.
Seagal lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.
Seagal displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Austin.
It looked like Seagal wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.

Austin closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Seagal to the mat! Seagal manages to get full guard.

Austin is holding a leg here, probably looking for an ankle lock - he drops back and goes for it! Seagal is in trouble! Is it all over??? No! Seagal has escaped and now he's on top!

Austin throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Seagal escapes and throws Austin's legs to the side, diving into side control!
The fighters are going at a pretty good pace and they're both starting to sweat now.

Seagal misses with a strike but at least he's keeping busy, looking to cause some damage - that will still help him when it comes to the judges scorecards.
Austin takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Austin can do anything to dispel that myth.

Austin is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Seagal is just riding it out for now. Austin eventually gives up the hold.

Seagal has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Austin is on him like a limpet, forcing Seagal back against the cage.

Austin fails with a rather predictable takedown attempt.

Austin darts in looking for a takedown but Seagal gets double underhooks and turns Austin into the cage.
Austin changes levels and looks for a double leg takedown. Seagal tries to avoid it but Austin manages to keep hold of a leg and drag Seagal to the ground. Seagal escapes though and pops straight back up to his feet.
Austin shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Seagal stuns Austin with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

It looks like Ron Austin has been cut.
Seagal throws a head kick but Austin moves out of range.
Sloppy strikes from Seagal. Those never looked like landing.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

That was a close second round but I would say that Steven Seagal will probably get the nod.

Seagal is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Austin is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Seagal, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
