This TWGC bout is 1 fifteen minute round in the lightweight division. Introducing today's competitors. And in the blue corner, fighting out of Sydney, with a TWGC record of 0 wins and 0 losses; George Smith!
The judges for this bout are Luis Engracia, Paulo Santos and Daniel Cesar.
Let's get this grappling contest under way! Who will be victorious?
Finn shoots in with a lovely double leg takedown. Smith manages to land in full guard to minimise the damage. Score +2 for takedown into guard / half guard: Finn (2) vs (0) Smith
Finn tries to free his leg and advance position but Smith is retaining full guard.
Smith is working the butterfly guard. He manages to land a nice scissor sweep and is now in half guard on the top. Nice move. Score +2 for sweep to guard / half guard: Finn (2) vs (2) Smith
Smith is trying to work for a kimura but Finn is defending well.
In the pre-fight buildup videos we saw Smith working his ground and pound in the gym. He isn't landing a great percentage of his ground strikes so far though.
Finn tries to roll over but Smith keeps him under control.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Smith wants to lay and pray for a moment but Finn keeps working.

Finn's coaches at Oblivion Gate have been working on his defensive grappling in preparation for this fight so let's see if he can get out of this tricky position.

Smith is stalling here. Finn is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Finn stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Smith swivels though and keeps the full guard.
Finn drops back for a leg! It's a sloppy attempt though and Finn jumps back into guard quickly, to retain the dominant position.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Finn has hold of Smith's arm. He's looking for a kimura. Smith seems comfortable defending it but Finn has shifted his position slighty and is cranking on the arm! Smith is real pain and he's forced to tap out! Smith is disgusted with himself for not defending it better but Finn couldn't care less - he's delighted!
