PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Farto Fuerte (ranked 22550 p4p, 20056 weight class) and Dwayne King (ranked 444 p4p, 411 weight class). Both these guys have solid standup skills and neither is particularly fantastic on the ground, so let's hope for a nice standup war!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 13 - 1, fighting out of Montreal, Farto Fuerte!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 18 - 24 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dwayne King!
The judges for this bout are Tatsuya Matsuyama, Kenichi Hosakawa and Ren Mimura.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
King throws a jab, cross combination which is slipped
and Fuerte counters with a quick right hand to the jaw.

It looks like Dwayne King has been cut.
Fuerte has been working on his boxing with his coaches at Canucks Combat Club in the buildup to the fight.
King throws a head kick that misses.
King swings and misses with a shot to the body
and Fuerte counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Fuerte uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by King.
King misses with an uppercut. Fuerte saw that one coming.
King tries a switch kick but it misses it's target.
Fuerte half committed to a counter leg kick.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fuerte sees it coming and avoids it easily.
It looked like Fuerte wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
King moves into range and throws a combination. A nice jab followed by a hook to the body.
King lands a jab to Fuerte's midsection.
Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Fuerte went nuts there looking for a big combo counter but none of the flurry connected.

King sizes up Fuerte with a pawing jab and scores with a straight right down the middle.
No joy there for King, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

and Fuerte makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Fuerte tries to move into range but King moves to the side and lands with a nice right hand.

Fuerte displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as King throws out the jab.

Fuerte throws a quick counter kick to the body but King avoids it.

Fuerte swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
King looks to land a left hand but Fuerte moved out of range nicely.

King takes a swing at Fuerte's ribcage but misses.
Fuerte was looking to counter that last move with a shot to the body but he didn't commit.

As King looks to move away, Fuerte throws a big counter combo but King just gets out of the way.
King moves into range and connects with a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Fuerte bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Fuerte throws a counter high kick but King was just alert enough to avoid it.
King throws a jab when Fuerte was well out of range.

Fuerte blocks a head kick by King.
King scores with a jab. Fuerte acknowledges it with a nod of the head.

and Fuerte counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps King thinking.

King scores with the left hand. Fuerte knows he should have avoided that one.
A jab from King finds it's way through Fuerte's defenses.
King throws a hook but Fuerte avoids it easily.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Dwayne King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Fuerte moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

King lunges in with an uppercut that skims his opponent's chin.
Dwayne King seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Fuerte dodges the punch combination from King.
King throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Fuerte sees it coming and avoids it easily.

King darts in and out, connecting with a jab.

A counter left hand to the body from Fuerte misses its target.
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Fuerte avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Fuerte throws a big counter combination but King scrambles out of danger and avoids any damage.

King cracks Fuerte with an open hand slap.
King has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
This has been an exciting period of action!
King scores with a nice one two combo and darts back out of range to avoid anything coming in the opposite direction.
King misses with a straight left.
Fuerte is looking to counter punch.
King throws a series of strikes that have Fuerte backpedaling.
King misses with an uppercut
and Fuerte counters with a nice jab to the body that keeps King thinking.
King misses with a hook

and before King can reset, Fuerte rushes him with a swarm of punches, sending him crashing to the floor, in all sorts of trouble! King is trying to beat the count but we're up to 6 already and he's nowhere near. 7,8... he's up! He's going to continue!
King pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Fuerte back to the ropes. King follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
King scores with a big left there. The judges will like that one.
King throws a lazy right hand but Fuerte sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Farto Fuerte will take that round after scoring the only knockdown of the round.
Both fighters have cut men working on them during the interval.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action. This is the final round!
