Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between James Walsh (ranked 4403 p4p, 4566 weight class) and Caylib Verdansk (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Verdansk is bouncing up and down as he enters the arena, backed by Men in black. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Verdansk lands a front kick.
Verdansk misses with a double jab.
Walsh misses with a takedown
and Verdansk counters with a lovely shot to the body.
Verdansk looks to land a combination. Walsh sees it coming but can only parry a couple of the shots.

Walsh rushes Verdansk and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.

Verdansk breaks from the clinch.

Walsh is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in Verdansk's half guard.

Verdansk manages to escape and get back to his feet!
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Verdansk wants to break free. God knows he wants to breaaaak freeee.

Verdansk will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Verdansk throws a front kick that sends Walsh stumbling back into the cage.

A momentary lapse in concentration from Verdansk enables Walsh to shoot in and score with a neat double leg. Verdansk manages to secure a closed guard as the fighters hit the mat.

Verdansk is looking to get back to his feet but can't, whilst Walsh is controlling him.

Walsh decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Verdansk, up you get!

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Walsh throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Walsh takes a punch to the jaw and another one to the bread basket.

The fighters get back to their feet, the hooter sounds and we're back to the action!

Verdansk is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Verdansk feints and then cracks Walsh's leading leg with a nice low kick. He's obviously looking to slow Walsh down.

James Walsh has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Caylib Verdansk.

This has been an exciting period of action!
Walsh shoots for a double leg takedown but Verdansk sprawls well. He's pushed Walsh's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

Verdansk shoots in looking for a takedown. Walsh tries to sprawl out of it but Verdansk keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Walsh manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.

Walsh closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Walsh has picked Verdansk up - he's going for a ride! Walsh dumps his opponent to the mat with a thud and settles into half guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Verdansk is trying to stand up here but Walsh is controlling him well.

James Walsh overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Caylib Verdansk decided to go for the less than humble approach in his post fight interview, telling everyone how he is going to conquer the world. The crowd seemed to like it when really that sort of approach could have gone either way.
