PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Trappy Trapperson (ranked 2831 p4p, 3559 weight class) and George Starling (ranked 356 p4p, 434 weight class). Starling has chosen Real American as his entrance music. Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 4 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Trappy Trapperson!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, George Starling!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Dean Styles and Chad Campbell.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Trapperson gets tackled into the cage by Starling. Starling maintains the clinch.
Starling lands a body shot in the clinch.
Trapperson is trying to pull guard but being pressed up against the cage enables Starling to keep the fight standing.
Trapperson tries to jump guard but he falls flat on his backside. Starling smiles and moves away.

Trapperson tries to keep at a distance but Starling has taken the fight into the clinch.
Starling is stalling here.

Starling breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Trapperson wants a takedown.

Trapperson looks to be in better condition than last time we saw him fight. Obviously he's been working hard on his cardio.
Starling lands a glancing elbow in the clinch.

Starling jumps guard and drags Trapperson to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
Trapperson passes Starling's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Starling is looking to escape.

Trapperson is fighting off a takedown attempt but Starling is just too persistent for him and manages to trip Trapperson to the mat. Trapperson regains guard as soon as the fighters hit the mat.

Trapperson pushes Starling off for just long enough to get back to his feet. Very athletic spring there.
Starling looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.

Trapperson gets tackled into the cage by Starling. Starling maintains the clinch.
Starling comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Starling creates a bit of space for himself and sneaks an elbow through Trapperson's defenses.

George Starling seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Starling gets through Trapperson's defenses to land a nice punch to the side of the head.
Starling comes over the top with an elbow. That landed flush.
Starling lands an elbow just above Trapperson 's eye.

Trapperson takes an elbow to the forehead.
Starling is pressed up against the cage. Trapperson has hold of a leg and is looking to drag Starling down to the mat. Starling avoids the attempt though and has circled away. We're back to striking at a distance.

The fight moves into the clinch position.

Starling pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Starling fakes with an overhand right and moves in to clinch with Trapperson, pushing him back against the cage.
Starling connects with a nasty looking knee right to Trapperson's face.
The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.

Starling escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

George Starling seems to be working more effectively in the clinch in the fight so far.

Starling turns his hips and lands a very nice judo throw into side control!

Trapperson is moving his hips around well on the bottom and has managed to get back to half guard.
Starling takes advantage of the dominant position to land a couple of big hammer fists.

Starling is nestled in close to Trapperson, controlling him well. He's worked in a nice elbow to the side of the head as well, for good measure.

Trapperson lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.

Trapperson is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Starling is defending well.

Starling is working on a single leg takedown against the cage. Trapperson can't fight it off and eventually Starling manages to take the fight to the floor. Trapperson looks annoyed but at least he's managed to land in guard.
Trapperson utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.

Starling has a momentary lapse of concentration, allowing Trapperson to throw up a leg and lock on what appears to be a pretty tight triangle! Starling is fighting it off but it's all too little too late - Trapperson pulls down on the head and he's put Starling to sleep! This one is all over!
