PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Panny Mackiow (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Rilley Ribbler (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Panny Mackiow!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Rilley Ribbler!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Alan Glass and Daniel Franklin.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Ribbler gets a takedown into half guard.
Ribbler takes a deep breath and rests his weight momentarily on top of his opponent, to control the position.
Ribbler's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
Mackiow is doing well to control the position and prevent Ribbler from advancing to side control.
Mackiow slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Ribbler content to stall in guard here.
Ribbler trying to control the position from guard on top but Mackiow is wriggling around, looking for whatever he can.
Ribbler scoring with some ground and pound.

Mackiow tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Mackiow wants to control the position but Ribbler says "no thanks buddy" and passes to half guard.
Ribbler is controlling the pace.
Mackiow is looking for a sweep. Ribbler is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Mackiow makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Mackiow.
Ribbler controls the pace of the fight for a moment.
Ribbler preventing the sweep.
Mackiow controls Ribbler momentarily but Ribbler frees himself.
Ribbler pushes down on Mackiow's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Ribbler landing with strikes to the body and head, softening up his opponent.
Ribbler prevents Mackiow from improving his position.
Ribbler throwing punches and elbows but they're not doing any damage.
Mackiow is trying to control but can't.
Mackiow is breathing heavily.
Ribbler trying to control the pace.

Ribbler throwing shots but they're hitting the canvas more than the man.
Mackiow wants to improve his position but Ribbler is controlling well.
Ribbler looks over to his corner - he wants some instructions but his corner are not responding.
Let's hope that Ribbler has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.
Mackiow is looking to improve his position.
Ribbler seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Ribbler stands up and beckons Mackiow to join him on the feet.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Mackiow misses with a takedown attempt

and Ribbler counters with a nice single leg takedown and he's in Mackiow's guard now.

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Mackiow is working an open guard so Ribbler takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Mackiow keeps the fight on the outside.

The fight moves into the clinch position.
Mackiow has Ribbler pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Ribbler manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Mackiow is trying to slow down the pace of the fight but Ribbler is keeping busy.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rilley Ribbler dominated that round.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.



Ribbler takes the fight into the clinch.
A knee to the head by Ribbler.
Mackiow is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Ribbler pulls him back up using the underhooks.

Ribbler escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Ribbler tries to clinch but is not successful on this occasion.
Mackiow shoots and misses

and Ribbler counters by moving into the clinch. Good anticipation by Ribbler.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Mackiow wants a takedown.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Panny Mackiow. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Both fighters are absolutely exhausted here.
Ribbler scores with a knee to the head.

Ribbler pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.

Ribbler shoots in and gets a takedown into half guard. Ribbler showed some decent athleticism there.

Ribbler seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Mackiow looks to move to half guard but instead Ribbler has passed into mount! Damn!

Mackiow wants to control but Ribbler is having none of it.

The crowd are showing their displeasure at the lack of action as loud boos ring out around the arena.
Ribbler sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.
Rilley Ribbler has got the better of the ground game so far.
Mackiow working to try and regain half guard.

Ribbler controlling the pace for now.
Ribbler lands a nice shot to the head.

Despite being in the dominant position, Rilley Ribbler just isn't active enough and the referee decides to stand the fighters back up.

Ribbler gets the takedown into side control.
Ribbler takes a little break here. Mackiow wants to take advantage but he is being controlled well.

Mackiow is looking to regain half guard here but Ribbler keeps moving and retains side control.
Ribbler cracks Mackiow with a big right hand but Mackiow just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

Rilley Ribbler showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!



Ribbler moves into the clinch.
Mackiow is working hard here but doesn't seem to be able to control effectively, up against the cage.
Knees to the body from Ribbler.

Ribbler jumps guard and drags Mackiow to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Ribbler holds on and takes a little breather.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Mackiow looking to sit in guard and control but Ribbler gets the butterfly guard and sweeps. He's now in the guard on the top.

Ribbler slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.

Ribbler decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Ribbler wants to clinch.

Ribbler gets in close and instigates a clinch.

Ribbler has managed to pull guard. Let's see whether he can work an aggressive guard. It will also be interesting to see what tactics Mackiow uses from the top position.
Ribbler bucks up whilst keeping hold of a body lock, managing to reverse the position. Now he's in top in Mackiow's guard.

Ribbler must be cautious of submissions here, given that his opponent has the superior Jiu Jitsu.

Ribbler decides to stand up, so the ref orders Mackiow to his feet.

Ribbler moves into range and clinches up with Mackiow.

Ribbler jumps guard and drags Mackiow to the mat. He's obviously going to be looking for submissions off his back.

Ribbler is controlling Mackiow's posture.
Mackiow wants to pass the guard but Ribbler is keeping the position.
Ribbler is doing well to control the posture of his opponent and prevent any damage.
Mackiow stopping the sweep attempt from Ribbler.
Ribbler has control of Mackiow's left arm, preventing Mackiow from doing any damage.

And that's the end of the fight!
Rilley Ribbler comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Ribbler has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
