Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Cody Evans (ranked 1594 p4p, 3661 weight class) and Diego Hageman (ranked 168 p4p, 335 weight class). Fingers crossed for an exciting fight - I'm sure both fighters are looking for a nice under the table bonus!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Cody Evans!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 27 - 24 - 1, fighting out of Las Vegas, Diego Hageman!
The judges for this bout are Frank Dennis, Cecil Peabody and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Evans closes the distance and pushes Hageman back into the cage.
Hageman tries to pull guard but Evans won't allow it.
Hageman tries to work over Evans's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Evans misses with some punches.
Hageman swings away with an uppercut that misses.
The fighters are pressed against the cage, as the pace of the fight slows.
Hageman misses with a short punch on the inside.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Hageman tries to work over Evans's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Evans is trying to trip Hageman. He has hold of a leg but Hageman is hopping around, keeping his balance for the moment. Evans persists though and gets the takedown into guard.
Evans throws a strike but Hageman rolls with it and manages to sweep. Now he's in guard on top.

Evans not looking particularly offensive just at the moment.

Evans lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Evans trying to pass the guard but can't manage it just yet.
Evans is frustrating his opponent with some stalling tactics from top position.
Hageman trying to keep a closed guard but Evans is proving a slippery customer.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Hageman is looking to stand up but Evans isn't so interested in that idea.

Hageman looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Evans has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Hammerfist, elbow! yells Evans's corner. There ya go! There ya go!
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Evans lands a couple of digs.
Evans controls from within his opponent's guard.
Evans trying to control but Hageman is working from the bottom.
Evans throwing strikes from guard but Hageman blocks nicely.
The fighters are starting to perspire pretty heavily.
Evans looking to control the position here, rather than advance.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Evans throws a punch but it's blocked by Hageman.
Evans leaning his opponent against the cage.
Hageman has Evans pressed up against the cage and is working for takedown. Evans manages to improve position though and keeps the fight standing.
Hageman tries to work over Evans's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Evans lands a hook to the side of the head.
With the fighters clinched against the cage, Hageman creates a bit of distance for himself and scores with a nice uppercut.
Evans misses with a body punch.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Cody Evans dominated that round.
The fighters' corners scream their final instructions, as the referee calls time. Here we go, back to the action!

Hageman steps to the side to avoid the strikes from Evans.
Evans throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Evans looks to land a right hand but Hageman moved out of range.
Evans avoids the head kick by Hageman.
Hageman tries to clinch but Evans is having none of it.
Evans tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hageman was well out of range. Poor timing from Evans.
Evans avoids a punch combination nicely.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hageman.
Evans swings and misses with a hook to the body.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Hageman closes the distance and gets a double leg, slamming Evans to the mat! Evans manages to get full guard.
Evans is looking to stand back up but Hageman counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by Evans.

It looks like Hageman is going to stand back up.

Evans keeps control of the position for the meantime.
Evans trying to hold on to Hageman's head to control him but Hageman postures up.
Hageman trying to control from half guard but Evans is working away.
Evans is looking for a sweep. Hageman is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.
Evans is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Hageman can do to turn this around?

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Evans is working hard here to advance position.
Hageman is looking to take a break and control but Evans is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Hageman is looking for a kimura here.
Hageman seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Evans does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
Cody Evans overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Hageman tries to stand and escape but Evans is controlling the position.
If this pace continues, the referee will definitely step in and force a standup.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Evans tries to clinch but Hageman is having none of it.

Hageman throws a leg kick but he was too far away and it doesn't land.
Hageman takes a jab right on the nose. That must have hurt but he shrugs his shoulders and looks to return the favor.
Evans throws a hook but Hageman blocks it.
Evans misses with the combination.
Hageman lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
We've been told by Evans's head coaches at Rabid Dog that he's been working on his takedown defense in preparation for this fight.
Hageman throws a right and a left that both miss.
Diego Hageman seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Evans fakes a jab and throws a low kick but Hageman checks it well.
Evans tries to land with a swinging hook to the body but Hageman was well out of range. Poor timing from Evans.
Diego Hageman is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Hageman fails in his attempt to clinch.
Hageman throws a sloppy head kick and Evans moves out of range easily.
Evans keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
Evans throws a right and a left that both miss.
Evans swings wildly with a right hand that was never going to find it's target.

Evans shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hageman napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Hageman tries to buck Evans off but Evans is having none of it.
Hageman takes a nasty elbow to the side of the head.
Hageman is trying to escape the position but Evans is controlling the position.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.
Evans is working Hageman over with some ground and pound from side control.
Evans looking to control but instead Hageman has slipped a leg in, to regain half guard.

That was a close second round but I would say that Cody Evans will probably get the nod.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! This is the final round!

Evans lands a right uppercut that snaps the head of Hageman backwards.
Hageman jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Evans walks away with a smile on his face. Hageman gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Hageman throws a wild body kick that Evans sees coming a mile off.
Hageman fails with an attempt to clinch.
Evans connects with a crisp jab.
Evans throws a nice looking combination but Hageman bobs and weaves to avoid any damage.
Hageman moves forwards but Evans connects with a nice, crisp jab.
A head kick misses from Hageman.
Hageman tries a head kick but it misses.
Evans misses with a hook. Hageman ducked under it nicely.
A decent looking cross lands there for Evans.
Hageman attempts a low kick but it misses it's target.
Hageman misses with a series of wild punches.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Evans throws a combination but it was largely blocked by Hageman.
Hageman throws a leg kick which misses Evans's front leg but catches the back leg as Evans tries to avoid it.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.
The fighters circle momentarily. Evans darts into range and connects with a nice straight punch.
A solid leg kick lands there for Hageman.

Evans scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Evans is looking to take a break and control but Hageman is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.
Hageman is trying to control Evans's posture but Evans avoids it.
Hageman is looking to work his way out of this bad position but Evans is controlling him well.

Hageman is not content to let Evans control the position.
Evans staying calm.
Diego Hageman has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!
The referee wants the fighters to be more active or he's going to reset them on the feet.
Evans lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Hageman down.
Hageman manages to get back to half guard.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Evans controlling the pace.
Evans knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Hageman on the ground.
Evans seems to be taking a bit of a break to think of his next move. He lands a short punch in the meantime.
Hageman moves into full guard.
Hageman wants to sweep here but Evans controlling him for the moment.
Cody Evans is fighting for a decision here - he's started to take the cautious approach.

Hageman working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Evans doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Evans manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Evans passes Hageman's left leg - he's now in half guard.

Well Evans has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
