Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Shingen Takeda (ranked 1106 p4p, 928 weight class) and Sammy Nyla (ranked 152 p4p, 130 weight class). Takeda's entrance music is Now We Are Free. A fine choice. The fight MMA fans around the world have waited their entire lives for!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 12 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Shingen Takeda!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 9 - 6 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sammy Nyla!
The judges for this bout are Eddie Farnsworth, Russell Pearce and Joseph Jones.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Nyla is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Takeda.
Shingen Takeda seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Nyla misses with a right hand
and Takeda makes him pay by landing a nice hook to the body before moving out of range.

Takeda throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Nyla was covering up waiting for the punch and Takeda finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Nyla tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Takeda pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Nyla is keeping the position for now.

Takeda drops back looking for a heel hook - he quickly realises he's not going to get it but Nyla manages to dive on top of him before he can escape and now Takeda has Nyla in his guard.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.

Takeda looking for submissions from the bottom but instead Nyla passes into side control.

Takeda is in a tricky position but he's been working on his transitions down at Takeda Clan Gym, so we'll see if he gets out of it.
Takeda tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Nyla presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.

Takeda has an active guard here but Nyla has managed to pass into half guard.
Takeda wants to improve his position but Nyla is controlling well.
Nyla is taking a breather. Takeda says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.

Takeda makes his way to full guard. A much better position for Takeda.

A close round but Sammy Nyla will probably get the nod.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Takeda turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Takeda shoots in but Nyla avoids the takedown attempt easily.

Takeda fakes a strike and closes the distance, dragging Nyla to the ground. Takeda is now in Nyla's guard.
Nyla is working from a closed guard but he's struggling to control his opponent.
Takeda will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.

Nyla lands a beautiful sweep and he's now moved into his opponent's guard.

Takeda working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Nyla doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Nyla manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.

Takeda tries to regain full guard. Instead though, Nyla has advanced to mount. Uh oh.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Nyla tries to control but Takeda wriggling away.

Nyla is in a good position here but he's just trying to control... And he's not even managing to do that successfully.
Nyla manages to capitalize on a mistake by Takeda to take his back!
You can see the frustration on Takeda's face… He knows he is in trouble unless he improves his position sooner rather than later.
Sammy Nyla has got the better of the ground game so far.
Takeda really does look like a pencil wearing a pair of gloves. Let's hope he has a gameplan to suit that ridiculous body shape.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Takeda manages to reverse the position and now he's in Nyla's guard. Nice work there by Takeda.

Takeda is trying a forearm choke… I don't think that's going to do much at this level of the game.

Takeda is trying for a guillotine from the top but the pressure isn't in the right place so Nyla is just riding it out for now. Takeda eventually gives up the hold.

Takeda uses his free foot to push down on Nyla's thigh. Eventually he works his other foot free and he's advanced to mount - this is trouble for Nyla.

Takeda swings around for an armbar but it's a sloppy attempt and Nyla is now in Takeda's guard. A big mistake from Takeda there, giving up the dominant position!

Nyla controls the pace of the fight for a moment.

Takeda looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Nyla is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
Takeda trying to keep a closed guard but Nyla is proving a slippery customer.
Takeda looking to hit a scissor sweep but Nyla is one step ahead there.

Takeda has his foot on Nyla's thigh. He's trying to push off and get in position for a triangle, I think. Nyla works his way back into a safe position though.
Shingen Takeda has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Takeda isolates an arm and boxes in a triangle. Nyla stacks Takeda on his neck as he steps over and passes to the side. He's now in a much more dominant position where he can look to do some serious damage. Nice move by Nyla!
Takeda is looking to regain half guard here but Nyla keeps moving and retains side control.
Takeda is sneaking out the side here. He's bucked Nyla off and has taken his back!
Nyla is in a world of trouble here. He's outmatched on the ground here and he'd better get Takeda off his back sharpish unless he wants to be submitted.

Nyla looks to control his opponent's hands but he's not mananging it at the moment.

Nyla is having to fend off submission attempts from Takeda, who is looking to sink in the choke. Takeda doesn't have the hooks in though and Nyla manages to reverse position! He's now on top, in his opponent's guard.
Nyla is intent on slowing down the pace of the fight, simply looking to control.

Takeda is active off his back here, looking for submissions.

That was a close round. You could make an argument for either fighter but I would give it to Shingen Takeda.
I think Nyla has won this one but let's see whether the judges agree with me. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
