Coming up we have a super heavyweight MMA rules bout between Monty Don (ranked 2279 p4p, 1713 weight class) and Martin Drop (ranked 58 p4p, 77 weight class). Monty Don is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the super heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 13 - 9 - 0, fighting out of London, Monty Don!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 7 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Martin Drop!
The judges for this bout are Wesley Smith, George Francis and Gwen Towbar.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Drop connects with a solid leg kick.
Don looks to land a right hand but Drop moved out of range.
Drop throws a body kick but he wasn't in range.
Drop looks to land a right hand but Don moved out of range.
Martin Drop seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Drop throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Drop cracks Don with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Drop thows a left - swing and a miss!
Don throwing a counter right hand but Drop manages to avoid it.
Drop throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Don getting the better of the striking in that exchange.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Don attempts a counter takedown but Drop avoids it well and moves away.

Drop shoots for a double leg takedown but Don sprawls well. He's pushed Drop's face into the mat and manages to get back to his feet relatively easily.

and Drop takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Don connects with a lovely jab that went straight through the gap between Drop's hands.
Don uses decent footwork to sidestep a right hand from Drop.
Don tries to counter with a takedown but Drop is quick to defend against it.

Don has knee on belly and now moves to full mount! Trouble for Drop!

Fantastic stuff here - a very entertaining period of action, which has drawn cheers from the crowd.
Don throwing sloppy strikes here. Perhaps if he tightened up his striking from such a dominant position, he'd be able to finish easier.

Don misses with a series of strikes from mount. He'll no doubt be working on his ground and pound when he gets back to the gym.

Don has freed up his trapped foot and advances to mount.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
The referee warns Drop that he has to improve his position here as he takes two more clean shots to the head.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Don sends his fist crashing into the mat - the crowd let out a collective ooooooh. Let's hope he's not broken it!
Drop is looking to improve his position but Don isn't that keen on the idea.
Don lands a nice shot to the head.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

The crowd applaud the fighters' efforts here as the round comes to an end.
Don is landing with some decent strikes but Drop is trying to advance his position so the referee is letting the fight continue.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action.

Drop seems to have recovered his senses.

Don is trying to control. Drop wants to improve his position but can't escape this time.

Monty Don overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Well, the break between rounds is over. Let's get back to the scrappin! This is the final round!

Drop is looking to chop away at Don's legs.

Don throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Drop was covering up waiting for the punch and Don finishes the takedown easily into guard.

Drop has managed to escape just enough to sneak back to his feet but Don is on him like a limpet, forcing Drop back against the cage.
Don is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.
Drop throws a vicious knee straight up the middle but Don blocks it with crossed arms.
The crowd cheering loudly, showing their appreciation for the quality fight we're seeing here.

Don is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Drop can do to turn this around?

Drop seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Don does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.
