Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Anderson Cunha (ranked 4021 p4p, 24863 weight class) and Sean OMalley (ranked 155 p4p, 0 weight class). Sean OMalley will no doubt be trying to keep this one on the feet, where he has a distinct advantage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Anderson Cunha!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Sean OMalley!
The judges for this bout are Dmitry Maklakov, Vladimir Khabensky and Konstantin Menshow.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cunha is looking for a takedown here. He's shot in and has managed to get it, finishing up in OMalley's half guard.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cunha in particular looking to stall.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cunha is thwarting OMalley's attempts to control the position.
Still in half guard, Cunha seems content to control.
Cunha has controlled the position for a good 20 seconds, which will no doubt be starting to frustrate his opponent.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

Cunha drives through with a takedown into guard.
OMalley is looking to stand back up but Cunha counters by passing into half guard. Oops... bit sloppy there by OMalley.

OMalley has no desire to be mounted, so is trying to control. Cunha is working away from the top position though.

Cunha content to sit in half guard and control for a moment.
OMalley is in trouble now - Cunha has advanced to mount!
Cunha controlling the pace for now.

This is a sustained period of stalling by Cunha.
OMalley tries to hold on but Cunha postures up.
Cunha sitting in mount, just looking to control for the moment.

Well. There's a bit of a lull in the action here and the crowd are starting to get restless.
The fighters are starting to get a bit slippery now, which will make submissions a bit more difficult.
OMalley is in all sorts of trouble here.
Cunha content just to control the position here.
Cunha continues to hold on tight.

OMalley tries to get to full guard but Cunha has control of the leg.
Cunha seems content to maintain position for now, rather than mounting any offense.

Anderson Cunha overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

OMalley trying to get back to full guard but Cunha takes advantage of the position and moves to full mount!
Cunha tucks in and makes sure he doesn't lose the dominant position.
You get the feeling that OMalley really doesn't like being in this position too much.
OMalley is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Cunha takes a little breather and maintains the position. The referee will be looking for him to stay active from such a dominant position though.

OMalley is desperately trying to improve his position but Cunha has a good base and remains in mount.
Cunha controlling the pace for now.
Cunha is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that OMalley can do to turn this around?
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Cunha seems to have a rather negative gameplan on the ground. He seems keen to just score the takedown and hold down OMalley for as long as he can get away with.
OMalley tries to lock up and control but Cunha gives him a forearm to the face and pushes him away.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Cunha content just to control the position here.

OK. That's time! The bell goes and we're back to the action. This is the final round!


Cunha shoots in looking for a single leg takedown. OMalley is trying to defend but Cunha finishes it well and ends up in half guard. Let's see if he can advance position further.
OMalley wants to get back to his feet.

Cunha's ground tactics aren't going to win him many fans. Let's hope he's got fireworks for us if he gets back to his feet because he's not doing much on the ground.

There's not a lot going on here and the crowd are letting the fighters know they're not willing to tolerate a lack of action.

Sean OMalley has stepped it up - he knows he needs a finish here!

Well Cunha has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
