Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Luis Rose (ranked 5778 p4p, 4384 weight class) and Roberto Vinekraj (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Roberto Vinekraj has the power to score a knockout today if he connects clean with Luis Rose's chin.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 2 - 0, fighting out of New York, Luis Rose!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of St Petersburg, Roberto Vinekraj!
The judges for this bout are John Roberts, Eddie Farnsworth and Jonathan Paton.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Vinekraj gets caught on his heels momentarily as he allows Rose to score an easy takedown into full guard.
Vinekraj looking to control.

Vinekraj throwing his legs up looking for a triangle.
Vinekraj working a defensive guard here.
Rose is in close to Vinekraj's body, working some short punches and elbows.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Vinekraj looking to control.
Rose has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.
Rose not doing a lot at the moment. He'll have to show some more aggression or the fight will get stood up.
The referee claps his hands together and tells the fighters to work.

Vinekraj looking for submissions off his back, moving his hips, looking for an opening.
Vinekraj looking to sweep here. No luck so far.

Vinekraj is throwing his legs up, looking for submissions. Rose is aware though and is defending well.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Vinekraj slips a straight right by Rose.

Rose scores a trip takedown into side control. Nice.
Rose trying to control the action but Vinekraj is working from the bottom.

Rose tries for a kimura but Vinekraj is defending well.

Rose slows the pace down.

Rose thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Vinekraj sneaks back into half guard.
Vinekraj looks winded!
Rose thumps the canvas. Not on purpose obviously - he just missed Vinekraj's head.

Vinekraj controlling the leg, holding on to half guard.

Rose is working for a kimura but Vinekraj is defending it quite comfortably.
Vinekraj moves into full guard.
Rose postures up in Vinekraj's guard and throws a big left but Vinekraj blocks it.

The crowd are starting to boo a lack of action.
Rose engaging in some classic timewasting tactics.

Vinekraj is working an open guard so Rose takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Vinekraj shoots in for a takedown. "Ole!" shouts Rose as he jumps to the side.
Nice takedown defense from Rose. No joy for Vinekraj on that attempt.
Rose misses with a two punch combination.
Luis Rose seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Rose will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.
Vinekraj stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Vinekraj wants it to stay on the feet.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.

Rose goes for a double leg but Vinekraj avoids the attempt and the two fighters end up clinched against the cage as Vinekraj continues to drive forward.
Vinekraj is trying to stall.
Vinekraj is looking for a takedown.
Rose swings wildly with an uppercut but Vinekraj uses good head movement to avoid it.
Vinekraj has had enough of the clinch but Rose keeps him there for the moment.
Rose wants to break free but Vinekraj has control.
An uppercut on the inside fails to land for Rose.
Good anti-grappling being displayed by Vinekraj as Rose tries to tie him up.

Rose's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.

Vinekraj lands a knee to the body and follows it up with some ground and pound to the head. That will wear Rose down.
Rose tries to wriggle free to get back to his feet but he's given up his back! Oops.
Rose is keeping busy.
Vinekraj is breathing heavily.

Vinekraj has his opponent's back and is working for the choke.
Rose trying to control but he's just got himself in more trouble.

Rose is going to have to think about doing something other than just controlling because Vinekraj is managing to avoid having the position dictated to him.

Vinekraj has his hand under the chin of his opponent looking for the choke. He's nearly got it! This one could be all over! But no, Rose has freed his hand and lives to survive another… well, another couple of seconds at least!

Rose tries to roll but Vinekraj sticks to his back.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Vinekraj seems to be going for a rear naked choke. He has an arm under Rose's chin but Rose turns very nicely into Vinekraj's guard. Good BJJ skills being displayed there by Rose.
Rose wants to get up but he can't break Vinekraj's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.
Rose is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Vinekraj can do to turn this around?
Rose pushes down on Vinekraj's leg and manages to get into half guard.

Rose stands up from half guard... He's had enough of that ground malarky for the time being.
Rose looks to land a combination but Vinekraj avoids it well.

Rose forces Vinekraj back against the cage and clinches.

Rose slows down the pace here.
Vinekraj tries a body shot but Rose blocks it.
Rose landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Rose lands with a left to the head.
Vinekraj's head jolts backwards as he takes an uppercut right on the button!
Rose with an attempt at a knee that misses.
Rose tries to land knees in the clinch but Vinekraj avoids the damage to the body.
Vinekraj fails to pull the fight into his guard.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Rose's corner calls for him to break the clinch, which he does.
Rose misses the jab.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Rose turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Luis Rose dominated that second round.
The corners get their ten second warning. Both fighters stand from their stools and stare each other down, ready to get back to the action. This is the final round!

Vinekraj avoids the clinch attempt nicely.
Vinekraj leaves Rose with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

Vinekraj shoots in for a takedown! He's got it and he's managed to land in side control! That's better than Vinekraj was expecting from the takedown attempt, I'm sure!

Rose bucks up and manages to escape back to his feet!
Vinekraj shoots in looking for a takedown but Rose manages to keep the fight standing, pushing Vinekraj's face into the canvas for good measure before circling away.
Rose swats away the attempt to clinch by Vinekraj.
Vinekraj takes a big intake of breath there - he's definitely tired.
Vinekraj closes the distance and clinches up with Rose, looking for a takedown. Vinekraj pushes Rose against the cage but Rose circles to the side and manages to break the clinch.
Luis Rose is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.
Rose shoots and misses
and Vinekraj counters with a two punch combo.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Rose tries to clinch up but Vinekraj circles away and keeps his distance.

Rose shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Vinekraj defends it nicely.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Luis Rose. That's going to take a lot out of him.

Rose shoots in and scores a nice double leg takedown into half guard.
Rose perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Vinekraj is looking to sinch up a guillotine here but Rose pulls his head out easily.

Vinekraj is defending against the submission attempts here by Rose.

Vinekraj is looking to improve his position.

Rose postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Vinekraj to stand up.
Rose misses with a jab and misses with a cross straight after too.
Rose goes to the watering hole and comes back with a big thumbs up from the judges as he scores a three punch combo.
Luis Rose is winning the standup battle so far.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Rose misses with a double jab.
Vinekraj displays good takedown defense there as he swats away a double leg from Rose.
Rose misses with a series of wild punches.

Vinekraj drives through with a takedown into guard.
Rose wants to get back to his feet but he's too absorbed in his own little project and Vinekraj manages to pass to side control.

Vinekraj is looking to take a break and control but Rose is keeping him honest, looking to work from the bottom.

Rose on the receiving end of some nice ground and pound.
Vinekraj is trying to control the action in half guard but Rose is working away on the bottom, looking perhaps to get back to full guard.
Rose manages to get to full guard.
Rose looking to hit a scissor sweep but Vinekraj is one step ahead there.
Rose is pulling down on Vinekraj's head. It's preventing any offense from Vinekraj, at least for the moment.

And that's the end of the fight!
Luis Rose showed his dominance in that final round.
Well Rose has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
