PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Forrest Loveladdy (ranked 4450 p4p, 4503 weight class) and Al Cronus (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Forrest Loveladdy!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Al Cronus!
The judges for this bout are Gwen Towbar, Frank Dennis and Alan Glass.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Cronus throws the overhand right but ducks down into a quick takedown attempt. Loveladdy was covering up waiting for the punch and Cronus finishes the takedown easily into guard.
Cronus slips effortlessly into side control - very nice.
Loveladdy is trying to escape the position but Cronus is controlling the position.
Cronus working the ground and pound but Loveladdy is defending the strikes.
Cronus postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Cronus remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Cronus cracks Loveladdy with an elbow. That is naaassty.

Cronus manages to get an easy takedown there - catching Loveladdy on his heels. He'll look to pass Loveladdy's guard now, I'm sure.

Cronus is working Loveladdy over from the guard. He should look to pass the guard and do a little more damage with these strikes.
Loveladdy knows he needs to get back to his feet asap. He's simply no match for Cronus on the ground.

Cronus misses with a takedown attempt - Loveladdy sprawls well and throws a nice strike on the way out which just misses.
It looked like Loveladdy was looking amped, ready to throw a big counter but didn't commit.

Cronus has managed to clinch.
Loveladdy is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.

Cronus breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.

Cronus closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Loveladdy did well to prevent Cronus getting side control.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Loveladdy takes a big shot right to the temple there but he's taken it well.
Cronus moving around in side mount but really he's just happy to control for now.
Loveladdy tries to slip a leg under to move to half guard but Cronus presses down on the leg and jumps into full mount!

Cronus working to secure an arm triangle but it's not happening for him just yet.
Loveladdy tries to hold on but Cronus pushes him away.

Cronus goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Loveladdy turns into him and now he's in Cronus's guard.
We get told so often about how wrestlers don't like to be on their backs. Let's see if Cronus can do anything to dispel that myth.

Let's hope that Cronus has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.

Loveladdy has decided he wants to stand but the closed guard of Cronus is proving hard to escape from.

Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!

Cronus working from the bottom, still in full guard. He's managed to get a loose triangle. Loveladdy doesn't seem to be doing much to defend here, obviously he feels comfortable in the position. Loveladdy manages to throw the legs off his shoulder and he's back into guard - no problem.
Loveladdy wants to control from the top but Cronus keeps moving.

Al Cronus showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.
Neither fighter is being very active at the moment, with Cronus in particular looking to stall.
Loveladdy tries to get to full guard but Cronus has control of the leg.
Cronus perhaps working for something from half guard, or maybe not. It looks like he's just sitting there.

We've had a lack of effective grappling in the last minute or so, which could well see a referee standup.

Cronus is working hard to pass the guard. He's done it - he's now in full mount! Trouble for Loveladdy!
Loveladdy is writhing around trying to get back to his feet.
Loveladdy tries to improve his position but instead Cronus has taken his back!
Cronus connects with a series of strikes and the referee is calling for Loveladdy to escape the position.

Cronus is looking for the choke from the back position but Loveladdy is controlling his hands well.

Cronus is remaining active here, looking for the choke. The more discerning members of the crowd will appreciate his efforts.
What can Loveladdy do to escape this position? He's going to have to figure it out pretty quick if he wants to stay in the fight!
