PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight MMA rules bout between Jimmy Williams (ranked 3422 p4p, 5465 weight class) and Kamaru Snoozemen (ranked 330 p4p, 419 weight class). Kamaru Snoozemen will no doubt be looking to use his reach advantage to good effect.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Helsinki, Jimmy Williams!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 2 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kamaru Snoozemen!
The judges for this bout are Don Winkell, Percy O'Donnell and Frank Antenori.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Snoozemen changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Williams looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.

Williams sneaks out the side door and pushes Snoozemen away - he's back to his feet. The crowd show their appreciation for the escape.

Snoozemen closes the distance and pushes Williams back into the cage.

Snoozemen escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.
Williams tries to close the distance and clinch but Snoozemen swats him to one side with an open hand palm strike and circles away.

Snoozemen feints and then dives in with a takedown. That was a long way out but the feint bought him enough time to close the distance and complete the takedown. Now we'll play guard for a bit and see who can get the better of that position.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Snoozemen is taking a break and basically stalling. The referee will not allow him to do that for long.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Snoozemen's corner are shouting for him to control the position and he seems happy to oblige.
It looks like Snoozemen might be adopting somewhat of a lay and pray gameplan here, which I'm sure won't go down too well with the paying fans in attendance... Or the ring announcers come to think of it.
Williams has a closed guard, preventing Snoozemen from standing up.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.
Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.

Williams tries to clinch but Snoozemen is having none of it.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Williams keeps the fight in the clinch, despite Snoozemen's efforts to push away.

I was talking to Williams's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Williams tries a body shot but Snoozemen blocks it.
Williams is trying to slow down the pace in the clinch, to catch his breath.
Snoozemen drops down for a takedown but doesn't get it.
Williams tries to work over Snoozemen's body with a swooping hook but it only glances the target.

Williams is clearly stalling here... Pick up the pace son.

Snoozemen is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.

Williams thuds his shin into the meat of Snoozemen's side.
Williams lands a straight punch to the body, keeping Snoozemen at a distance.

Williams darts in and out, connecting with a jab.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Williams cracks Snoozemen with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.

Williams moves into range and lands a nice leg kick.
Snoozemen wants to clinch up but Williams keeps it at a distance.
Williams appears to be looking for a big counter.
Williams misses with a half-hearted attempt at a head kick.
Snoozemen shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Williams but Williams pushes him off and we're back to square one.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Jimmy Williams has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of Kamaru Snoozemen.
Snoozemen is trying to pull guard but Williams turns him against the cage and we stay in the clinch.

Williams lands a hook that snaps the head of Snoozemen backwards.
Snoozemen is still on wobbly legs! Can Williams finish him?
Williams is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Snoozemen can do to turn this around?
Williams unloads with a big right hand that wobbles Snoozemen! He's leaning against the cage trying to keep his feet but Williams is unloading with more strikes now! Snoozemen drops to his knees and the referee stops the fight for a TKO!
