Coming up we have a bantamweight MMA rules bout between Mickey Cowan (ranked 1195 p4p, 1768 weight class) and Kuroda Atsushi (ranked 65 p4p, 104 weight class). Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the bantamweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 11 - 4 - 0, fighting out of Montreal, Mickey Cowan!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 4 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Kuroda Atsushi!
The judges for this bout are David Schapiro, Bruno Lombardi and Eddie Farnsworth.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Atsushi listening to his corner there, landing a nice uppercut.
Atsushi looks to land a left hand but Cowan moved out of range nicely.
Atsushi misses with a looping right.
Atsushi takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.
Atsushi moves out of range of the leg kick from Cowan.
Atsushi takes a shot to the eye socket. That's gotta hurt.
Atsushi ducks right into an uppercut from Cowan.
Atsushi throws a quick inside leg kick.
Atsushi cracks Cowan with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the cage.
Atsushi throws a decent looking leg kick but it doesn't land clean.
Cowan swung with a counter right hand that didn't connect.
Cowan rushes forward with a series of wild hooks but Atsushi moves out of range and avoids them all easily.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Atsushi! But no joy.
Cowan throws a body punch but Atsushi moves out of range.
Nice shot by Atsushi.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cowan takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
A slow jab from Atsushi misses its intended target.
Cowan ducks under a wild hook from Atsushi.
Cowan keeping at a good range here, avoiding a leg kick.
Cowan quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.

That's one minute gone in the round.
An inside leg kick from Atsushi misses.
Atsushi shoots in looking for a takedown. Cowan tries to sprawl out of it but Atsushi keeps driving through. The fighters are pinned against the cage. Cowan manages to get underhooks and after a bit of a struggle, circles away and we're back to standing.
Cowan thinks about countering with a head kick.

Atsushi missing with a left hand there. Cowan was out of range so wasted energy throwing that one.
Atsushi throws a half hearted mid kick.
Cowan slips a jab from Atsushi.
Cowan moves away from the strike by Atsushi.
Cowan displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Atsushi throws out the jab.
Atsushi scores with a jab to the jaw of his opponent.
Cowan tries to land a front kick but Atsushi steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
Atsushi misses with a looping right.
Cowan shakes his hands off, looking to compose himself, but takes a jab to the jaw whilst he does it.

That's two minutes gone in the round.
Atsushi misses with a straight right.
Atsushi is looking to score with low kicks.
Cowan walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Atsushi swings wildly with a hook that is half blocked by Cowan.
We can't be sure of the tactics at this early stage but we have heard that Atsushi has been working on his takedowns a lot in the buildup to the fight and we can only assume he's going to look to take this to the mat.
Atsushi is landing a lot of head punches in this opening round! Cowan had better start moving his head a bit unless he wants his face to turn into mush.
Cowan throws out a token jab with nothing on it.
Atsushi is trying to avoid his opponent's strikes and get into the clinch.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Cowan dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
Atsushi throws a right hand that misses
and Atsushi takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Atsushi thumps Cowan with a low kick.
Kuroda Atsushi seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
A chopping leg kick lands by Atsushi.
Atsushi looks to land a left hand but Cowan moved out of range nicely.
Atsushi with a nice looking leg kick. You could hear that one land in a back row.
A head kick misses from Cowan.
Cowan staying out of range there.
It looked like Cowan wanted to counter with a hook but didn't fully commit.
Atsushi lands a head shot.

Atsushi takes the fight into the clinch.

That's three minutes gone in the round.
Cowan lands with a right to the head.
Cowan throws a blind hook that connects with the side of Atsushis head.

Atsushi pushes off and circles away, back to the middle of the mat.
Cowan misses with an uppercut. Atsushi saw that one coming.
Atsushi throws a front kick aimed at Cowan's knee but Cowan avoids it well.

Atsushi closes the distance and pushes Cowan back into the cage.
Cowan misses with a hook to the ribs.
Cowan lands a shoulder strike that jolts his opponent's head backwards.

Atsushi gets double underhooks and manages to take the fight to the ground.
Cowan utilising some decent striking defenses from the guard, preventing the ground and pound.
Cowan keeping moving, preventing Atsushi from controlling successfully.
Atsushi might have to switch it up a bit here because his efforts to control Cowan haven't been going to plan, at least at the current moment in time.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
Cowan can't do much from the bottom at the moment, as Atsushi controls the pace.
Let's hope that Atsushi has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
Atsushi shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Cowan counters with a nice uppercut.
The crowd are loving this. Great action here.
Atsushi wants to clinch up but Cowan keeps it at a distance.
Cowan half committed to a counter leg kick.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Kuroda Atsushi dominated that round.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

A lazy left from Atsushi finds it's target.
Atsushi throws a leg kick but Cowan checks it.
Atsushi jabbing away but nothing is landing.
Cowan throwing a counter right hand but Atsushi manages to avoid it.
Atsushi finds nothing but air with that leg kick attempt.
A telegraphed right hand from Atsushi misses the target.
Cowan avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Kuroda Atsushi seems to be getting the better of the standup.
Atsushi turns his hip over beautifully as he lands a nice leg kick.
Atsushi has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Oooooooooooh, not good. A low kick from Atsushi lands where it shouldn't have, right in the... well, you know what he did? He kicked him in the penis. He's injured, injured bad. The referee sends both fighters to their corners and Cowan has 5 minutes to recover. He's OK now though... a thumbs up from Cowan and we're back underway with a touch of gloves.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Atsushi looks to land a left hand but Cowan moved out of range nicely.

and Cowan counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.

It looks like Kuroda Atsushi has been cut.
Cowan takes one to the chin there.
Atsushi misses with a hook.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Cowan misses with a low kick as Atsushi jumps back.
Atsushi throws a lazy right hand but Cowan sees it coming a mile off and sidesteps it easily.
Cowan lands with an uppercut that bounces Atsushi off the cage and back into range.

Atsushi is rocked!
Cowan lands with a massive overhand right! Stick a fork in Atsushi - he's out cold! Ermm... I think I just mixed my metaphors but yeah... That was a nice KO! Big win for Cowan!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:19 of round 2, we have a winner by way of KO (Punch). Mickey Cowan!
A relieved looking Mickey Cowan thanked the fans for their support and gave the usual line about them being amazing. They seemed to believe that he actually meant it.
