PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Hanzo Hattori (ranked 5557 p4p, 3684 weight class) and Dan Morgan (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Morgan has chosen Wellerman (Sea Shanty) as his entrance music. Both fighters look fresh as a daisy as they make their way towards the cage.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 1 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Hanzo Hattori!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 3 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, Dan Morgan!
The judges for this bout are Shigeki Fujiwara, Hirohito Nitta and Shirou Masuda.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!

Morgan clinches up with Hattori and pushes him back against the cage.
Hattori jumps guard but Morgan stands there with Hattori around his waist. Hattori gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
I was talking to Hattori's coach per-fight and he was telling me that they'd been working on the clinch in the runup to this fight.
Hattori tries to pull guard but Morgan won't allow it.

The ref stands the fighters back up due to a lack of activity.
Morgan shoots in and drives through. Hattori sprawls well.
Hattori is looking to counter with head kicks.

Morgan looking to shoot here. He's gone for it and he's landed a takedown into side control! Oh, that's bad for Hattori!

Morgan tries to score with some ground and pound. Hattori controls his posture well this time though and the shots don't do any damage.
Morgan wants to lay and pray for a moment but Hattori keeps working.

Morgan thinks about going for a far side armbar but bails out and retains the dominant position instead.
Hattori is trying to get back to half guard.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Hattori regains half guard there - taking advantage of Morgan's attempt to lay and pray for a moment.

Morgan postures up and decides to stand up, from the half guard. The ref calls for Hattori to stand up.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Morgan shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Hattori napping and manages to drive through into side control!

Morgan is looking for a kimura. He might have it! No, Hattori has escaped the position, nice work there.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Morgan wants to control but Hattori has made it back to half guard. Nice work.

Morgan is keen to just control but Hattori is a slippery customer.

Morgan working from mount. He moves in close and looks like he might be going for an arm triangle... He's hopped off to the side and he's transitioned into an Anaconda choke. Hattori turning a nasty shade of purple. He's refusing to tap but he's gone! He's out! The ref rips Morgan off and cradles Hattori's limp body as Morgan celebrates with his corner.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 3:35 of round 3, we have a winner by way of Submission (Anaconda Choke). Dan Morgan!
