PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a featherweight kickboxing rules bout between Wassa Tayu (ranked 22103 p4p, 20197 weight class) and Dwayne King (ranked 532 p4p, 505 weight class). This should be fireworks!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the featherweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 5 - 5 - 0, fighting out of New York, Wassa Tayu!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 21 - 1, fighting out of New York, Dwayne King!
The judges for this bout are Cecil Peabody, Tiny Johnson and Chris Downing.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Tayu throws a right hand that misses
and King counters with a three punch combo that has Tayu backing up. Tayu nods at King to acknowledge the strikes.
King throws a wild body kick that Tayu sees coming a mile off.
Tayu seem to be loading up, looking for a big counter.
King throws a head kick that misses and slips in the process. He scrambles back to his feet and the fighters circle.
Tayu dips down and scores with a jab to the body.
King lands a two punch combo.
Some wild striking there from King.
A little feinted left hand from Tayu on the counter but he doesn't commit to it.
Nice uppercut lands for Tayu. That snapped King's head back.

King moves his head to the side to avoid a jab but walks straight into a cross.

Tayu has been working on his boxing with his coaches at WildBoar's Private Pig Pen in the buildup to the fight.
Tayu tries to land a front kick but King steps back. That was a bit too telegraphed.
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King misses with a few strikes there.
A looping hook to the body misses from Tayu. King does a little dance to reset his feet.
Tayu lands a vicious shot with the stealth of a sniper and the strength of a viper. Are vipers that strong? I can think of lots of things that are stronger than a viper - not many rhyme with sniper though.
Tayu throws a two punch combo that lands nicely.

King closes the distance and scores with a big combo that sends Tayu crashing to the mat! Tayu uses the ropes to get back to his feet and beat the count. The referee looks concerned but he's going to allow it to continue!

Tayu is rocked!

Tayu throws an uppercut from half a mile away. King sees it coming and avoids it easily.
King throws a right hand that Tayu ducks under and follows up with a left that Tayu also avoids with ease.
Tayu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
King ducks under a wild hook from Tayu.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from King! But no joy.

Tayu attempts a leg kick but it's missed by a good margin.

King connects with a solid leg kick.

The crowd are going absolutely nuts as the round comes to an end - what a fantastic round of action!

And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Having scored a knockdown, Dwayne King should take round 1, putting pressure on his opponene back strong in round 2.
That's the end of the interval. I'm sure that seemed a lot quicker than a minute for our two fighters! Back to the action.

Tayu quickly followed up with a counter body kick but doesn't connect.
King is the aggressor but that punch slipped nicely by Tayu.
Tayu was looking to counter that move with a punch but didn't quite pull the trigger.
Tayu lands a beauty of a right hand that gets the crowd cheering.

King cracks Tayu with a good shot that sees him stumbling back into the ropes.

Dwayne King seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

Oh Tayu is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Tayu walks forward and throws out a flicking leg kick. King checks it nicely though, as he moves to the side.
King throws a fast counter high kick but Tayu manages to duck under it in time.

King sees a low kick coming and goes to check it, but it's actually a body kick and it thuds into his unprotected ribs.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

That was a close second round but I would say that Wassa Tayu will probably get the nod.

This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!
King leaves his chin hanging out and Tayu seizes the opportunity with an uppercut! King crumbles to the floor in a heap! The referee steps in and tends to the downed fighter! What a knockout!
