Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Jim Melamed (ranked 3649 p4p, 2540 weight class) and Reese Rumbalo (ranked 456 p4p, 334 weight class). These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 2 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Jim Melamed!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 6 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Reese Rumbalo!
The judges for this bout are Dirk Anderson, Sandra Marshall and Santiago Holmes.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Melamed shoots in and drives through. Rumbalo sprawls well.
Melamed shoots in but doesn't get the takedown
and Melamed takes a counter punch right on the button for his troubles.
Rumbalo on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
Rumbalo keeps the fight standing with a nice sprawl.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Jim Melamed. That's going to take a lot out of him.
Melamed misses with a body shot. Nice footwork from Rumbalo.
Rumbalo throws out a counter right but Melamed avoids it with no problem.
Melamed wants to clinch
and Rumbalo counters with a crisp hook to the side of the head.

It looks like Jim Melamed has been cut.
Melamed falls off balance throwing a combination
and Rumbalo counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
The fighters circling - Rumbalo throws out the jab but it was never going to land.
Rumbalo scores with a spinning back kick!
Rumbalo showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Melamed.
Rumbalo looks more muscular than last time we saw him. He must have been on the weights.
Melamed wants to clinch but Rumbalo slips to the side
and Rumbalo counters with a nice uppercut.
Jim Melamed seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.

That's one minute gone in the round.
Rumbalo thumps Melamed with a low kick.
Rumbalo connects with a hook to the side of his opponent's head.
Rumbalo cracks Melamed with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Melamed tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Rumbalo pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Melamed is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!

Ladies and gentlemen, after 1:15 of round 1, we have a winner by way of TKO (Strikes). Reese Rumbalo!
