Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between Wayne Sillvestre (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and John Cooper (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Wayne Sillvestre is staring across the cage at his opponent, tweaking his nipples... Tweaking his own nipples that is.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, Wayne Sillvestre!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Sydney, John Cooper!
The judges for this bout are Winston Howard, Eliza Hachem and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Sillvestre misses with a wild body shot.

Sillvestre drops down and drives through with a powerful takedown into guard.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

Sillvestre decides he's had enough of playing guard and decides to stand. Come on Cooper, up you get!
Cooper tries for a takedown but Sillvestre circles away easily
and Sillvestre counters with a straight punch to the midsection.
Wayne Sillvestre seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Sillvestre tries a head kick but it misses.
Cooper swings for the body but Sillvestre moves out of range.
Cooper closes the distance looking to clinch

and Sillvestre counters with a shoot takedown. Cooper fights it but they end up in guard.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!
Sillvestre tries to free his leg and advance position but Cooper is retaining full guard.
Sillvestre has to be careful here, sitting in the guard of a superior BJJ player.

Cooper escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Sillvestre gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Sillvestre wants to get up but he can't break Cooper's closed guard. He needs to be careful trying to break the legs open, as he's open to submissions here.

Sillvestre slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Cooper tries to land a sweep but no joy.
Cooper is controlling Sillvestre's posture.

Cooper is working an open guard so Sillvestre takes the opportunity to get back to his feet.
Sillvestre is breathing heavily.

and Sillvestre counters into the clinch. Nicely done.

Sillvestre pulls guard effortlessly.

Cooper drops back, looking for a kneebar! Sillvestre looks panicked! The fighters roll across the mat, one looking to finish, one looking to escape. Sillvestre looks to have wriggled free... Yes, he's got his leg free and he's dived into side control! Good work there from Sillvestre!

Sillvestre works a knee to the body and follows up with a nice elbow to the head.

Sillvestre decides to stand back up. Sillvestre steps back and let's Cooper get back to his feet.

Sillvestre changes levels and drives through with a really nice takedown into side control. Cooper looks really pissed at himself for not defending that better.
Cooper is trying to get back to half guard.

Sillvestre decides to take the fight back to the feet.
Sillvestre misses with a series of wild punches.

and Sillvestre counters with a low kick, right behind Cooper 's knee.
Wayne Sillvestre has stuffed three takedown attempts in the round now. That's going to take a lot out of John Cooper.

Cooper is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Sillvestre lands a couple of elbows.

It looks like we're going to have a standup here. Neither fighter is doing enough on the ground.

Cooper trying to control the position but instead, Sillvestre has worked for underhooks and has pushed Cooper into the cage.

Sillvestre breaks the clinch and we're back to striking at distance.
Cooper avoids a low kick by using good footwork.
The crowd applaud the fighters efforts here as the round comes to an end.

and Sillvestre counters with a takedown into full mount! That could mean trouble for Cooper!
This is a great period of action - very entertaining stuff!

Sillvestre goes for an armbar but he's not got it… Cooper turns into him and now he's in Sillvestre's guard.
And that’s the end of the round – the fighters go back to their corners.

The referee calls time. The cornermen exit stage left and we're back to business.


Cooper connects with a solid leg kick.
Wayne Sillvestre is looking to throw some combinations by the looks of things.

Sillvestre pushes Cooper up against the cage in a clinch.
Cooper is trying to work for a single leg takedown but Sillvestre pulls him back up using the underhooks.
Sillvestre landing knees to the body. They look like they could hurt.
Cooper jumps guard but Sillvestre stands there with Cooper around his waist. Cooper gives up and drops back to his feet. We remain in the clinch.
Sillvestre presses Cooper against the cage and delivers a mid-strength body shot.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.

Cooper is trying to break the clinch but Sillvestre has him pressed against the cage.
Cooper is working for a takedown up against the cage. He can't get it on this occasion though.

Sillvestre escapes the clinch and we're back to striking.

Cooper can't do much from the bottom here.
Cooper tries to buck Sillvestre off but Sillvestre is having none of it.

The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Sillvestre remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.
Sillvestre tries to advance to mount but Cooper denies him.
Cooper is pushing Sillvestre's head away, looking to escape. Sillvestre manages to hold on to the position though.
Sillvestre is really dominating this fight. Is there anything that Cooper can do to turn this around?

Wayne Sillvestre overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

Sillvestre decides to stand up, so the ref orders Cooper to his feet.

and Sillvestre counters with a left and a right that stings Cooper.

Sillvestre rushes Cooper and pushes him back against the cage in a clinch.
Cooper drops down looking for an ankle pick but Sillvestre pulls his leg out and moves away.

Sillvestre shoots in from a long way out. He's driving through with the takedown attempt and he eventually gets it, landing in Cooper's guard.
We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

As the round comes to an end the crowd are showing their appreciation for a great round of action.
Sillvestre wants to stand and escape but instead Cooper has hit a sweep and he's now on top in guard.
Sillvestre is striking off his back. Cooper thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Sillvestre is still in mount, landing shots to his trapped opponent. Cooper can't stay in a position like this for much longer.
Sillvestre wants to control the pace but Cooper is squirming around nicely.
Sillvestre unloads with some shots from mount but Cooper bucks and avoids them well.

Neither fighter has done anything of merit for a good minute or two here and the crowd are not happy about it.
Cooper tries to hold on but Sillvestre pushes him away.

Sillvestre thuds his fist into the canvas! Oooouch!

Cooper wants to hold on but Sillvestre pushes him away.
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

Well Sillvestre has outscored his opponent in every aspect of the fight today. Only a scarily incompetent judge or two will keep him from a well deserved win... Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
