PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a heavyweight MMA rules bout between Keone Kapisi (ranked 1276 p4p, 4049 weight class) and Dustin Kruger (ranked 195 p4p, 478 weight class). Dustin Kruger told me before the fight that he's been watching a lot of DVDs so let's see if that helps him in this one! I can't wait to find out!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the heavyweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Kapisi on the wrong end of a nice jab.
Kapisi takes an uppercut right on the button but keeps his composure.

Kruger moves into the clinch.

Kapisi breaks the clinch and we return to the middle of the mat.
Kapisi throws a shot from downtown. Kruger moves away and avoids it.
Kruger throws a low kick but it's checked well by Kapisi.
Kruger showing good head movement there, avoiding the strikes from Kapisi.
Good leg kick by Kruger.
Kapisi throws a big shot that misses.
Kapisi pushes forward with a 1-2 combination that forces Kruger back to the cage. Kapisi follows up with a solid lead hook to the liver.

It looks like Dustin Kruger has been cut.
Kapisi on the wrong end of a nice low kick. He's acting like it's no big deal but he doesn't want to take many more of those.
This has been an exciting period of action!
Kapisi throws a jab to the body, straight down the pipe. Boom. That sent Kruger stumbling backwards but he manages to regain his composure quickly.
Wow, both these guys are really going for it!
Kapisi swats away the attempt to clinch by Kruger.
An attempted straight right counter from Kapisi misses the target.
Kapisi ducks down and throws a hook to the body but Kruger moves away.
Kapisi getting the better of the striking in that exchange.
Kapisi finds Kruger's off switch, with a big overhand right that connects perfectly to the side of the head! Kruger flops back against the cage, eyes gazing into the distance. Kapisi lands an unnecessary shot before the referee has time to step in and end the fight. Brutal stuff but I'm sure Kruger will be OK.
