Coming up we have a welterweight MMA rules bout between John Maze (ranked 4345 p4p, 25211 weight class) and Chen Wangting (ranked 500 p4p, 0 weight class). Wangting has chosen Interceptor as his entrance music. The crowd giving both fighters a great reception on their way into the arena. That's good to see.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the welterweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 1 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Las Vegas, John Maze!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 1 - 3 - 0, fighting out of Tokyo, Chen Wangting!
The judges for this bout are George Francis, Tiny Johnson and Cecil Peabody.
The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Wangting throws a leg kick but Maze moved away.
Wangting swings for the body but Maze moves out of range.
Maze shoots for a takedown but Wangting saw that one coming a mile off and avoided it easily.
Maze fakes high and shoots in for a takedown but Wangting avoids it really well and circles away.
Maze uses some good footwork to avoid the body shot by Wangting.
Maze has his takedown stuffed
and Wangting connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for John Maze. That's going to take a lot out of him.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Wangting misses with a wild body shot.
Maze shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wangting defends it nicely.

Maze is working on a leg, looking for a takedown but Wangting is defending well.
Wangting wants to stall.
Maze jumps guard but his hands slip and he falls flat on his back. Well, he's made himself look a right mug there, as Wangting walks away with a smile on his face. Maze gets slowly back to his feet and shakes his head.
Horrible takedown attempt by Maze or perhaps it was just good defense by Wangting, which made it look bad.
Wangting shoots in and bounces Maze off the cage to secure the takedown into guard.
Maze pushes Wangting off and scrambles back to his feet.

Maze gets tackled into the cage by Wangting. Wangting maintains the clinch.
Maze goes for a takedown in the clinch but Wangting prevents it.
Wangting jumps guard.
Wangting looking to hit a scissor sweep but Maze is one step ahead there.
Maze prevents Wangting from getting back to his feet.
Maze throwing elbows and punches but not connecting, as Wangting works some decent striking defense from the bottom.

A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Wangting holds on and takes a little breather.

Maze sneaks a leg through and gets to half guard. That was like a knife through butter how easily he passed Wangting's guard.

Maze darts in looking for a takedown but Wangting gets double underhooks and turns Maze into the cage.
Maze pulls guard effortlessly.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Maze escapes his hips to the side and looks to be working for an armbar. Wangting gives him a little smile and shakes his head. No chance.

Maze throws a couple of shots from the bottom but they don't land.

Maze will need to keep those long limbs tucked in whilst he's on the ground, to prevent any submissions.
Wangting pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Maze is keeping the position for now.
Maze is striking off his back. Wangting thinks nothing of it though and passes easily into half guard.

Chen Wangting showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.

Maze shoots in looking for a double leg takedown. Wangting defends it nicely.

Maze throws his legs up looking to secure a triangle. Oh, that looks pretty tight, I gotta say! Wangting escapes and throws Maze's legs to the side, diving into side control!

The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Both fighters are breathing heavily.
Maze is trying to control but Wangting passes into side control!

Wangting cracks Maze with a big right hand but Maze just smiles back at him and invites him to have another go.
You can see the frustration on Maze's face, being in this tough position on the bottom.
Wangting has had enough of the ground for now and decides to stand.
Maze dives in and grabs Wangting's left leg, looking for a takedown. Wangting pushes down on Maze's head and hops out.
Maze throws an uppercut from half a mile away. Wangting sees it coming and avoids it easily.
Wangting feints and as Maze raises his hands in defense, Wangting changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Well Wangting has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
