Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Darsin Bleak (ranked 105 p4p, 193 weight class) and Zee Land (ranked 13 p4p, 26 weight class). Bleak comes into the arena with Enter Sandman blaring out of the sound system. The crowd seem to be enjoying Land's choice of entrance music: For Heavy Metal we will die!. Over to our ring announcer for the fighter introductions!

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 5 rounds, for the lightweight championship of the world!
Introducing the champion to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 17 - 1 - 0, fighting out of New York, Darsin Bleak!
And introducing the challenger to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 15 - 5 - 0, fighting out of Los Angeles, Zee Land!
The judges for this bout are Ben Watson, Darius Henderson and Bruno Hogan.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Bleak throws a lazy uppercut
letting Land counter with a right hand.
Land walks into a stiff left hand from Bleak.
A combination from Land does no damage.
Bleak throws a shot from downtown. Land moves away and avoids it.
Bleak gets cracked with a nice right hand there by Land.
Darsin Bleak seems to be the more aggressive standup fighter in this bout.
Bleak fails with the takedown.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Bleak defending well as Land loads up on a big left hand.
Land slaps away a takedown attempt from Bleak, before circling back to the center of the mat.

A nice leg kick from Land, right into the meat of the thigh.
Land throws a low kick but his opponent is out of range.
Bleak walks straight into a jab right on the nose. That one stung - he's blinking and trying to clear his head.
Bleak tests Land's chin there with a solid looking shot.
Land ducks under an overhand right and circles away with a smile on his face.
Land lets it all go there with a big combo counter but none of the punches connected.
Bleak ducks under a wild hook from Land.
Bleak lands a slapping body shot.
Zee Land is looking to keep the fight on the feet at all costs.

Bleak throws a shot from downtown. Land moves away and avoids it.
And an attempted straight right on the counter from Land! But no joy.

and Land counters with an inside leg kick.
Land walks into a straight right hand from Bleak.
A combination from Land does no damage.
Land moves out of range as Bleak strikes.
The fans in attendance giving it up for the two fighters, who have really let it all hang out in the last minute or so!

Bleak closes the distance and scores a nice trip takedown into half guard. Land did well to prevent Bleak getting side control.
We could do with one of the fighters taking the initiative a bit more on the ground - they're both waiting to capitalize on a mistake.

Land is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
A real slowdown in the pace of the fight for a moment, as Land holds on and takes a little breather.
Land is a painfully thin specimen of a man. You do wonder whether a good body kick would snap him clean in two.
Bleak looking to pass the guard.

Land looking for submissions from the bottom here. Moving his hips around, possibly looking for an armbar.
Bleak loading up with the ground and pound but he's missing more than he's landing in this flurry.

A few boos can be heard. I'm sure they will multiply if the fighters don't pick up the pace.
Bleak passes Land's right leg, so he's now in half guard.
Bleak trying to mount his opponent but Land defends it.
Land is trying to get back to full guard.
Bleak is stalling here. Land is in no mood to hang around though. He's locked up a kimura from the bottom! Bleak seems to be keeping calm but he's forced to roll out of the hold and Land has ended up in side control on the top. Nice work.

Bleak moves his hips nicely and gets into full guard.

Bleak had isolated an arm as going for a kimura. Land defends it easily.
Land pressing down on his opponent's thigh, looking to pass guard. Bleak is keeping the position for now.

That was a close round but I would say that Darsin Bleak will probably get the nod.

Bleak misses with a takedown
and Land counters with a lovely straight right hand!
Bleak tries to drive through with a takedown attempt but Land defends well and Bleak ends up having to push Land into the cage where they will battle it out in the clinch.

Bleak manages to break the clinch.
Bleak lands a pitter patter jab to the forehead of his opponent.

Land lands a big head kick that sends Bleak tumbling to the mat! Land takes a step backwards and waves Bleak back to his feet - he wants the finish!

Bleak is rocked!

It looks like Darsin Bleak has been cut.
Wooooo! Give it up for these two warriors! They are putting on a show!
Land throws a hook to the body but it doesn't connect.
Oh Bleak is still all over the place! His legs are completely gone! Will he be able to recover?!!

Bleak seems to have got his legs back now.
Bleak looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Land has been the more effective fighter overall so far.
Land fails to land with a series of punches.
Land throws a looping overhand right but Bleak ducks down to avoid it.
Zee Land seems to be getting the better of the standup.

Bleak throws a hook but Land avoids it easily.

Land throws the left hand but Bleak avoids the punch easily.

Land uses good footwork to avoid the strikes from Bleak.
Land doesn't react quick enough there as he takes a shot to the body.
The crowd cheers as Bleak lands an impressive looking overhand right. Land doesn't seem phased though.

Bleak tries for a takedown but Land circles away easily
and Land counters with a leg kick.
That's three failed takedown attempts in the round for Darsin Bleak. That's going to take a lot out of him.
A swing and a miss from Bleak.
Bleak displays some good footwork, moving neatly out of range as Land throws out the jab.
Land lands a really nice looking cross but Bleak seems unphased.
Land avoids a lazy jab quite easily.
Land uses good footwork to get in and out and land a nice right hand before Bleak has time to react.

Land leaves Bleak with his face pressed against the mat as he sprawls beautifully, defending against a solid takedown attempt.

No joy there for Land, who threw a few shots but didn't land.

letting Bleak counter with a right hand.

Bleak closes the distance and clinches up, looking for a takedown. He shifts his weight and gets a nice trip into half guard.

Darsin Bleak overall seems to be getting the better of the ground position in the fight so far.

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Land will need to tighten up his combinations if he doesn't want to gas himself out, swinging at thin air.

Bleak feinted with a counter takedown.

Bleak is really head hunting here, hardly looking to strike to the body at all.

Bleak feints and as Land raises his hands in defense, Bleak changes levels and drives through with a takedown into guard.

Land takes an elbow right on the bridge of the nose and winces in pain.
The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.
Land sneaks back into half guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.

Bleak seems very keen to just sit and control from half guard but Land does not like that idea so much and is remaining active off his back.

Bleak throws an overhand right that lands on Land's shoulder, as Land tries to avoid the shot.
Land tries a quick counter leg kick but Bleak is wise to it.

Land is pausing for a moment. What's he doing? It looks like he's clearing his nose. Oh dude! He's shot a load of snot all down Bleak's shoulder. That is not cool.

The crowd are hurling abuse towards the fighters... You can hardly blame them though because there isn't a lot going on in the fight.

Bleak trying to control the action but Land is working from the bottom.
Bleak remains in side control and seems content to stay there. It's a versatile position from which he can work both strikes and submissions, whilst maintaining that control, so maybe he'll sit here for a while.

Well I reckon that's a shut out for Bleak, winning every round. Will the judges agree? They are the ones who matter, even if they are often depressingly incompetent. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
