PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a lightweight MMA rules bout between Roger Lin (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class) and Horatio Nelson (ranked 0 p4p, 0 weight class). Lin comes into the arena with Bang Install blaring out of the sound system. We have two fighters making their debuts here, so let's see who comes out of this one with their first professional victory.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the lightweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Roger Lin!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 0 - 0 - 0, fighting out of Rio de Janeiro, Horatio Nelson!
The judges for this bout are Felipe Paraventi, Alexandre Firmino and Mauricio Rocha.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Lin lands a jab.
Jab, jab by Lin - just one landing.
Nelson looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
Lin swings for the body but Nelson moves out of range.
Lin avoids a kick to the body.
Nelson bobs and weaves well there to avoid the strikes.
Lin stuns Nelson with a nice body shot, before stepping back out of range.

That's one minute gone in the round.

Lin gets caught flat footed, as Nelson shoots in with a quick takedown into guard.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Nelson stands up and looks to throw the legs aside to pass to side control. Lin swivels though and keeps the full guard.

Lin is working an open guard here, looking to improve his position. No doubt that will leave him open to counters but at least he's being more offensive.
Nelson passes easily into side control. Nice work.

Nelson tries for a kimura. Not really close to a finish though.
Lin can't do much from the bottom here.

Lin is trying to control Nelson's posture but Nelson avoids it.
Lin tries to get back to half guard but can't.
Lin is working to avoid the ground and pound but Nelson connects with a decent elbow.
Lin is pushing Nelson's head away, looking to escape. Nelson manages to hold on to the position though.

Nelson tries for an arm triangle. That looks pretty tight to me. Is this one over!?! Possibly, maybe, no Nelson has let go of the choke. Obviously it wasn't as tight as we thought!
Lin on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Lin tries to get out of the position.

Lin tries to work a leg under to get back to half guard but Nelson wriggles his own leg back out and remains in side control.
Lin wants to get back to his feet but Nelson drags him back down.

Nelson is trying to land an Americana. He has the arm isolated but Lin is keeping cool and he's avoided the danger for now.
Lin is trying to buck Nelson off.
Lin is breathing heavily.

Nelson working hard here to secure a kimura but he's not really in the right position for it.

Lin tries to bench press Nelson off him but Nelson keeps the position.

That's four minutes gone in the round.
The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.
Lin pushes Nelson away and creates a bit of space to escape. He's almost out here... but no, Nelson gets a good hold of his legs and remains firmly in side control.
Lin is trying to control Nelson's posture but Nelson avoids it.

Nelson is in a dominant position here, looking for a kimura. Lin looks calm but he's in trouble here. Nelson gets his leg over his opponent's head and yanks on the arm. Lin is tapping like a morse code operator on the titanic! SOS! SOS! Nelson lets go of the hold and Lin can pop his arm back in it's socket.

Ladies and gentlemen, after 4:27 of round 1, we have a winner by way of Submission (Kimura). Horatio Nelson!
