PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a middleweight MMA rules bout between Chame Boxing Champ (ranked 1418 p4p, 1575 weight class) and Bobby Drake (ranked 211 p4p, 225 weight class). Both these guys have really solid chins. Will we see a standup war or will they both decide that a knockout is unlikely and try to win the fight elsewhere?

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the middleweight division.

The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
Boxing Champ shoots in for a takedown - he's clinched up with Drake but Drake pushes him off and we're back to square one.
A nice side step and Drake releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Boxing Champ pushes Drake up against the cage in a clinch.
Boxing Champ throws a punch but it's blocked by Drake.
Boxing Champ goes for a takedown attempt but Drake pushes him away and we're back to fighting at a distance.

Boxing Champ throws a body shot but no joy.

and Drake connects with a straight left hand counter down the middle.

Drake cracks Boxing Champ with a hook to the jaw. Both fighters smile at eachother and high-five before getting back down to business.
Boxing Champ moves to clinch but Drake breaks away
and Drake counters with a good right hand that lands right on the jaw.
Drake has been spending a lot of time sparring his boxing in the run up to the fight, trying to sharpen up those hands and look for a knockout.

Boxing Champ gets the takedown into side control.
Drake is looking to regain half guard here but Boxing Champ keeps moving and retains side control.
Boxing Champ postures up a little and throws a couple of hammerfists but they don't connect properly.
Drake regains half guard, as Boxing Champ was trying to land strikes.
Drake keeping hold of Boxing Champ's head, controlling as best he can.

Drake is looking to control Boxing Champ's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Drake avoid being mounted?

We've seen a great period of action over the last minute or so - credit to both fighters for going all out!

Drake wants to control here, rather than go for any submissions from the bottom. At least for now.

The referee has decided to stand the fighters back up, so we'll restart on the feet.

A little jabbing left from Drake on the counter but it doesn't find it's target.
Drake cracks Boxing Champ with a nasty uppercut that draws ooohs from the crowd and sends Boxing Champ tumbling backwards onto the mat. He tries to recover but Drake pounces and lands a hail of unanswered strikes that forces the referee to step in to end the fight! Boxing Champ is not happy but he gave the referee no choice!
