PBP Commentary

Coming up we have a light heavyweight MMA rules bout between Arthur Fleck (ranked 2799 p4p, 1693 weight class) and Bob Crawley (ranked 361 p4p, 229 weight class). Crawley has chosen Barbarian Overlords - The Ambassador as his entrance music. These two fighters really are very evenly matched on the feet - it will be fascinating to see who can assert themselves in that aspect of the fight.

Ladies and gentlemen. This fight is 3 rounds, in the light heavyweight division.
Introducing the fighter to my left, fighting out of the red corner.
With a record of 3 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Arthur Fleck!
And introducing the fighter to my right, fighting out of the blue corner.
With a record of 5 - 4 - 0, fighting out of The Island, Bob Crawley!
The judges for this bout are Daniel Franklin, Bart Greer and Michael Johnstone.




The bell rings for round one and we are underway!
A lazy left from Crawley finds it's target.
Fleck shoots in and drives through. Crawley sprawls well.
Fleck looks to have improved his striking defense since last time we saw him fight.
Fleck blocks a head kick by Crawley.
Fleck keeping his hands up high there, blocking the jab from Crawley.
Both fighters are looking to counter, which isn't making for the most exciting fight in the world.
Fleck misses with a body shot
and Crawley counters with a low kick, right behind Fleck 's knee.

Fleck shoots in for a takedown from distance. He catches Crawley napping and manages to drive through into side control!
Fleck in side control, trying to ground and pound but not landing this time.
Crawley can't do much from the bottom here.
The ref warns both fighters not to hold the cage as they work up against the meshing.
Crawley manages to get back to half guard.

Crawley slips a foot under and gets full guard. Nice work.
Crawley has Fleck pulled in close to control his posture.
Let's hope that Crawley has the urge to step up the pace any second now because for the last 15 or 20 seconds he's just been holding on tight.

The crowd are getting on the fighters' backs, as the pace has dropped off in the last minute or so.

The fighters are pressed up against the cage, both looking to find a bit of space to work.

A telegraphed takedown attempt from Fleck is defended easily by Crawley.

We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Nice sprawl there from Crawley as Fleck shoots in.
A nice side step and Crawley releases a counter shot to the body, but it doesn't find it's home.

Crawley throws a looping overhand right but Fleck ducks down to avoid it.

A lull in the action here being met with boos from the crowd.
Fleck has his hands clasped together around Crawley's back. He's all about the action.
Fleck on his back here. We all know that wrestlers don't like being on their back so let's see if Fleck tries to get out of the position.
Crawley tries to pass to full mount but Fleck defends it.
Fleck is looking for a sweep. Crawley is wise to his cunning plan and keeps the top position.

The referee decides to stand the fighters back up.
A looping hook to the body misses from Fleck. Crawley does a little dance to reset his feet.
Fleck checks the leg kick nicely there.
Boooooooooooooooooooo!!! God, this has been a terrible round. Come on you two, sort yourselves out!
Fleck looks frustrated there after his takedown attempt is stuffed easily.
And that is the end of the round. The fighters go back to their corners.

Bob Crawley showed his class in that round. I'd imagine he'll take it on all the scorecards.
The minute break is over - no more time for sponges and pep talks - back to the action! The crowd applaud as we get ready to start the final round!

Crawley throws a leg kick but Fleck sees it coming and checks it nicely.
Fleck drops down looking for a counter takedown but Crawley sprawls and moves away.

Fleck on the receiving end of a decent leg kick there by Crawley. Crawley obviously looking to wear him down.
We've had a slow start to the round here - hopefully the action picks up.
Fleck takes a thudding leg kick, right into the meat of the thigh.
Fleck dives in for a single leg takedown but Crawley sprawls and the fighters end up clinched against the cage.

Fleck tries for a takedown but Crawley sees it coming a mile off and avoids it easily.
Crawley was about to counter that last move with a leg kick but changes his mind.

and Crawley counters with a nice low kick that buckles Fleck's knee momentarily.
Fleck walks straight into an uppercut. Luckily it didn't land flush.
Crawley lands an overhand left. A wild punch that just about connected.
Crawley takes a step towards his opponent and connects with a left hand, before circling away.

and Crawley counters with a stiff right hand.
Crawley stuffs a takedown. It's all about dictating where the fight takes place and Crawley wants it to stay on the feet.

Crawley misses with a straight right.

Crawley bobbing and weaving well here. And he's unloaded with a massive right hand that drops Fleck! He dives into his guard looking to finish!

It looks like Arthur Fleck has been cut.

Fleck wants to sweep here but Crawley controlling him for the moment.
Crawley slows down the pace of the fight for a moment. He'll need to remain active if he doesn't want to see the fight stood back up.
Fleck is looking to stand up but Crawley isn't so interested in that idea.
Crawley content to stall in guard here.

My god... these two guys really need to pick up the pace or everyone will leave to go get a beer.
Crawley advances to half guard.
Crawley is taking a breather. Fleck says something to him but it's hard to make out. Perhaps he's telling him to get on with it and actually do something.
Fleck is looking to control Crawley's leg but it's slowly edging free. Can Fleck avoid being mounted?
The crowd thankful this round is nearly over.

The referee has motioned to the fighters to stand back up.

And that's the end of the fight!
Bob Crawley comfortably won the final round on my scorecard.
Well Crawley has outworked and out performed his opponent in all aspects of the game today. He was simply too good and the decision should be no more than a formality. Over to the ring announcer for the scorecards.
